How are the courses designed in community colleges? Do they include all required educational courses (also called junk courses) before joining a university to complete the undergraduate degree?

I am confused here. Please help me understand how it works. My plan is to complete all required coursed (about 42 credit hours) in community college here in Virginia and later join a university for rest of the undergraduate courses.

I appreciate your help.

Well, Micky_mouse, first of all it is not called 'junk courses'. They are called lower level courses or prerequiste classes before you can take 3000 and 4000 classes in university. I understood, thats all it matters.

Well ur community college is a 2-year college, so all it does is - offers a 1000 and 2000 level classes. And it depends on 2 things how many credit classes you can take in a community college, before you transfer to a 4-year college. Ur Major and The university u transfer.

The best thing would be to decide ur major and choose 4-year college and talk to advisor and do equivalebcy check. Usually, u can transfer from anywhere 45-60 credit hours depending on major and college. In some cases i Have ssen upto 64 crdit hours.

Well,
Do your research first. Sometimes not all credits transfers to University. It will be easy if you know which university you wanna transfer to. Sometimes, it won't be a problem if you transfer to the college/university of the same state. And keep in mind that the gpa you had in community college may not count in university and you have to start fresh. The classes in University are harder because, usually, they are higher level courses.
If you have any more question, feel free to ask.

Thanks
