Hello experts,

Can anyone explain why Citi [C] is soaring like "gu ko mula". Is it good time to invest on Citi? Durning my research, I can't find much to justify it.

Thanks all for your inputs.

volume is too low. hedge funds are not buying it. its' the small players like us who are buying it and raising the price thinking that worst is over. big players will soon start selling when govt start dumping their 27% stake leaving small players behind.

GOOD LUCK. i am long citi but i am on sideline right now.

Wait till April 19 before you invest in Citi. The gov't will start selling [C] stock starting from April 19. This can impact Citi stock in both ways. No government involvement means less regulations and can be viewed as a positive sign. However, if the gov't decide to float all C stock that they are holding in market,  the supply will be way more than demand for C stock which will eventually bring down the stock price to equilibrium (may be around 3.50). The current boost in C price is not due to its performance, but because it offered Primerica (PRI)'s IPO and got 320 million in cash.

All of the above doesn't mean you shouldn't buy citi stock at all, it basically means trade with caution. Their CAPM beta is 2.74 and their eps is -0.21, so before investing in C, make sure that you have an exit strategy.

The volume has not been below 300M since early March. It's not even 3 pm but volume is already 460M. You call that low? Enlighten me here, Mr/Ms. Buddha.

460 Million is way below 6 billion stocks (7.66% of 6 B is 460 M) that the government holds. You really don't have to believe me in terms of volume playing roles in stock price and I am not here to enlighten you. The simple rule is that market's demand and supply works everywhere.  If you want to know more, go consult some books or tutorial on technical trading and economics.

Hedgies have been riding this stock up and down. Its on the up swing right now. It was a good time to buy Citi at its low of 3.15 a month ago. Its a good trade between  4- 5. Although i see citi reaching 8.00 by the end of 2011

Buy with your gambling money not with your investment money. I gambled with Citi at 3.25 and am doing pretty good right now.
