Most banks open accounts in US$ and NRs. The reason I wanted to open a US$ account is that $ price fluctuates by over Rs10 per year. You can deposit dollars, and withdraw when the US$ price is high enough. Below is the conversation with one of the banks. It didn't work for me but...

Dear Sir,

I have already informed you before that if an a/c is opened through mail
(e-mail or via courier) there will be restriction for debit (withdraw)
transaction. You have to be present yourself for first time withdrawal
for activation of a/c then the a/c will be treated as normal a/c. If
you want to give power of attorney to your spouse then you have to be
present yourself in the bank.

You can get full information from our web site
www.bok.com.np.  Further I would like to inform you that the income source of dollar a/c has to be certified from notary public of
U.S.A. not
notary public of
Nepal.

Thank
you Somana ji for the information. I will prepare the required
documents with Nepalese Notary Public certification as per your
suggestions.

However,
my personal presence for withdrawl does not seem practical because I
visit
Nepal only every one or two year. Is it possible to add my dad or
mom (in
Nepal) as a joint account holder so that she can make withdrawls
whenever needed? Or, please suggest me what I can do to draw amount
from my USD account when my family needs money in Nepal.

Can
you please send me the details / brochure about opening foreign currency
accounts. I tried but could not find anything in the website.

The
link to a/c opening form in your website is broken. I got a link from
other sources. Please confirm that it is the correct form (http://www.bok.com.np/pdfs/Account%20Opening.pdf).

I think you also need a proof of my income in US dollars. Is an official letter form my employer (Google.com) stating the amount I receive as my salary enough?

What other documents do you need?

Please provide me the required information so that we can finish this task as soon as possible.

Thank you,

_

Dear Sir,

Good
Morning! To open an account from abroad please download the a/c opening
form from our web site, fill it up properly & send it through
courier. After receiving the form we will provide you the a/c number
& it will be activated once you send money on it .Only deposit
allowed in this a/c but for withdrawal your self presence must.

Please be informed that we need an official certificate from
Notary Public clearly mentioned your details & even in the a/c opening form certification from
Notary Public is required.

Thank
you Somana ji for the information. I had been transferring funds with
swift code, just wanted if there was any other cheaper/easier way with
you. That should be fine anyway.

Please
inform me what further steps should I take to open the account as soon
as possible. Because I will not be in
Nepal until December, please inform me how we can open an account while
I am outside
Nepal. If needed, we can have one of my family members in
Kathmandu to be a joint-account-holder but I would prefer my personal
account. You may attach the required documents in email, and I will get
somebody from my family to hand them back to the bank after I fill up
and sign everything. Or, please suggest me further what we can do in
this regard.

Thank you,

Dear Somana ji,

I
heard that BOK opens accounts in foreign currencies but I could not
locate specific information about it in your website. Now in US with US$ income, I want to open an account with BOK (in US$). Can you send us some
necessary details about it? I would also like to know what will be the
easiest way to remit/wire few thousand dollars every month to our account in
BOK.

Thank you,
