Ya .. I was there .. a model fell off from the ramp and hurt badly
Also, the management in all the programs were pathetic
Aaurveda concert was delayed by around 3 hrs
and I felt that the tickets were very expensive .. I paid like 35$ for the DJ night and i felt that its not worth it
This year ANA simply sucked

Over 10000 people participated ( as heard) and this time hotel itself kept it's value and integrity by allowing to drink only in the designated  area which is the best part of the ANA up to now. If you have visited with higher exception and disappointed, by next time you would not be disappointed because you know what to expect.

Better than all previous conventions.

I was not able to get a room at park plaza so ended up at holiday inn and this convention did not even feel like convention this year. There was not even a shuttle from holiday inn.Did not even attend any programs ended up touring boston.

Syanjali

Either you were in the organizing committee OR were just day dreaming during the convention to call it the best convention of all time. The highlight of the convention are the shows and from what I see they didn’t go so well. But it wasn’t all wash, there were few good things which I would like to list:

PLUS

A separate dedicated space (castle) to register and have the food stalls with Nepali food was definitely a plus.

Dedicated volunteers. Every year these volunteers put up with all mix of crowds and my hat goes off to them.

No bar in the hotel. I wonder how the hotel made money out of the convention?? But this definitely reduced the occurence of fight inside the hotel.

MINUS

All the shows: Fashion show, DJ night, Concert etc. Timeliness was all time low and extreme cost saving lead to the poor management.

Location: Parking was crazy. Do we really need to do these conventions in the middle of the city?

Sports: Lack of equipments (balls) and other necessary items (water, medicaid etc) when needed.

Because of the shows I have to subtract significant points from the convention this year. This definitely wasn’t the worst one though.

TO go to the bar you have to to the road and enter and it was kind of expensive. I enjoyed the bar.
I am not in the committee, the booth and food courts were in other side of the road.
If you have visited past ANA conventions then you would have felt the difference. But the question is what you wanted to see makes difference in your
perception.

What you wanted to see makes perception...so true, you forgot that it applies to you too.

I didn't say it was the worst, the one in Baltimore was poorly managed. But to call it the best, others had to be worse than the faux pa at the shows. DJs were boo-ed, shows started not 30 minutes-1 hour, but a whole 3 hours late!!! That's ridiculous. People went to see fashion show and the previous show (2-3 hours) hadn't even started. Let me ask you this...as an organizer you don't have to worry about hotel rooms, parking etc etc but your primary duty is that the forums and shows go well...right? If they don't go well you don't call them the best. Right?

But again, kudos to the volunteers and unpaid local hosts. I guess ANA is trying, hopefully the one in Denver will be better. I am not the usual basher who are after ANA pockets, I personally don't think the exec body themselves make any money out of it. But u gotta be fair to everything.

And please...10,000 people DIDN'T attend it. 4 thousands tops is my prediction. Let's see how many registered and add 1-2 K to that total.

My calculation included those who did not registered and in and out all three days. It made inconvenience to the participants residing in different city and not able to use proper transportation. I did not joint the cultural program and had no idea. Just happy to see people not able to find the bar and not seen people drinking.

Let me rephrase : Little better than previous conventions.

i dont understand what are peope upto? did u attend any of the forum?? i was there to attend yuwa bhela and am touched and really appreciate nepali youth working for the betterment of nepal and nepali. browse the anaconvention.org of this year and you will find what took place there rather then asking each other who even dont know what was going out there. convention is not only for entertainment and gathering. its a platform to introduce yourself and offer help to nepal and nepali. i am very impressed with Bishnu M. Pariyar, founder of Empower Dalit Women of Nepal. since most of the ppl mentioned that they didnt find bar in the hotel (where they were supposed to be) you must have saved some $$. please join EDWON's blue shirt campaign. your $ 10 can send one student to school for a whole year. www.edwon.org. i am not a member of this organization but i strongly believe how word of mouth can make a difference. thank you.
