they should keep a small force and use rest of the army to build the county, schools and hospitals.  When was the last battle they fought?  Can they fight India?  Can they fight China or even the maoist when they were in Jungle?  No way...they couldnt even protect the king in his palace.....arent the super army kept within the palace?

Nepalese army is nothing but a show piece.  Get fat pay travel the world and really do nothing. Heres another one they come to US to train in many things and psych warfare is one them....really? and they are gonna use that?  The sales man for that program must be awesome....  OH I forgot to mention how the Generals and upper level army personnels use the army at home as maids/servants to build their houses, serve them at home etc etc.  This is just ridiculous.

At least send them to Iraq, afganistan etc or UN appointed areas so at least we get sympathy from the western world to develop our country...

These hard core fighters want to join the army?  ok let them join and ship them to see a real war....

What if every country in the world were run by a group of people in the Government who have managed to live half of their lives on incomes less than per-capita-income of that given country?
-mR. hydE
Ponder over the budget crisis in the US and Europe after all that "spend baby spend" spree. At the end of the day, the money for all the social programs has to be funded from some source with some FINITE feasibility, Right?
Instead of building more army barracks at every region and feeding/housing those additional voracious eaters, wouldn't it be more cost effective to require military training for all medically-qualified Nepali youth and build a "on-call" reserve? (If "on-call", then I guess we need to provide cell-phones to all those trained fighters).
On the other hand, say we increased the army manpower, then what if India fires that "Agni" missile at us? Then, are we going to respond with the only "Hagni" missile we have?

Believe me diplomacy is less expensive than war and I know that for a fact. I think we should rather build partnership with India, China and others and battle global warming, women-trafficking, terrorism, malnutrition, hunger, depravity, illiteracy, child labor, baby-delivery-labor, etc. With the fast globalizing world, the made-made national borders have lesser meaning with every ticking of time.

I for one support increasing the size of Nepal army.

First of all start thinking beyond the facevalue of everything you analyze. Nepal army is certainly not to protect the country from an Indian or Chinese invasion. We still have the technology of the old and there is no point of competing against these neighbors. However, with country’s youth not finding any job and evading the country, army provides some form of job to these citizens. Like you guys yourself said, they can be used for nation development, the way Army corps of engineers were formed in US and the way army was mobilized for civic works (building roads, bridges) during depression era here. Just keeping them and training them in the barracks won’t cut it. Then we should ask to increase our quota in UN missions, sure it fills the pocket of the officers but it also brings a lot of money to the country. With the recent dispute between UN peace keeping department and NA (the former accusing the latter of too many human rights violation issues) this might be a tough sell right now, but the leaders should engage in that and make it a serious priority.

For mucho
fiesta,

Bro looks
like u don’t know anything why Army is for ? and what Nepal Army is doing??

About fighting with India/China: Nepal
Army is not to fight with India or China. Any time India or china invades Nepal
(which never gonna happen), Nepal will get armies for other countries so don’t
worry about fighting India or china or any other. Had there been no Nepal Army,
the country would have already been captured my Maoists. At this point Nepal
Army is the only hindrance to Maoists to take over Nepal.

About protecting King: King’s death is a
conspiracy so don’t involve Army in this. Do u mean what were US army (the most
powerful army) doing when JFK was assassinated??? So do u mean why US army is
needed when they couldn’t protect their president????

About coming to US to train: Not only to
US, they are going to other countries to get various trainings that they couldn’t
get in Nepal. Its like us going to various countries in US.

About
slavery: Yes that is bad to have army personnal working as maid/servants and
slowly it is changing.

About sending to UN appointed areas: More
than 36,000 (thirty six thousands)  Nepalese Armies  have served in various warzone countries under
UN mission. Those include Lebanon, Somalia, Haiti, Sierra Leone, Sudan and
more.  More than 300 Nepalese Armies were
serving in Haiti when the earthquake hit.  It was their good luck nobody got dead. One
officer got injured.

Thousands of Nepal Army are serving in various construction projects, development projects around the country. When Maoists blocked the road construction in one district, the project was then handled by Army and they successfully constructed the road with armed security.

Don’t judge
when u know nothing.

jhymma,

You sound like you really want to defend the NA with no logic.

About fighting with India/China: Nepal
Army is not to fight with India or China. Any time India or china invades Nepal
(which never gonna happen), Nepal will get armies for other countries so don’t
worry about fighting India or china or any other. Had there been no Nepal Army,
the country would have already been captured my Maoists. At this point Nepal
Army is the only hindrance to Maoists to take over Nepal.

--------You sound adamant that India china will never attact nepal.  How the hell do you know?  You are predicting future now?  Where will nepal get armies from ?  US?  You think any country would come to fight india or china?  Even then nepal is destroyed as a battlefield.  Maoist always ruled the country side when they were fighting...btw the way nepal politics is going it will be taken over by Maoist incl the NA....just matter of time

About protecting King: King’s death is a
conspiracy so don’t involve Army in this. Do u mean what were US army (the most
powerful army) doing when JFK was assassinated??? So do u mean why US army is
needed when they couldn’t protect their president????

-----Do you even know how was jfk assasinated?  and how fast they caught the shooter.  do you think jfk and his family was assasinated in his residency without any of his secret service or the guards knowing?  I agree kings death was/is conpiracy how come no one asks "werent there any bartenders, maids, servants etc etc serving them?  was the whole palace empty when this happened?  ( i may have open can of worms)

About coming to US to train: Not only to
US, they are going to other countries to get various trainings that they couldn’t
get in Nepal. Its like us going to various countries in US.

-----so you are agreeing with me?  or are you telling me that all the nepales army and police that come here and train (feeding off of nepalese peoples tax) are going back to use the psych warfare and the things they get trained here for?  I lost you on this one "its like going to various countries in the US"

About
slavery: Yes that is bad to have army personnal working as maid/servants and
slowly it is changing.

----------Changing?  since when ?  last time i went to nepal for my frens wedding...(end of last yr) all the servers, cooks etc etc were army personnel and the tent, jeeps etc were provided by the army too.  Which planet have you been on?

About sending to UN appointed areas: More
than 36,000 (thirty six thousands)  Nepalese Armies  have served in various warzone countries under
UN mission. Those include Lebanon, Somalia, Haiti, Sierra Leone, Sudan and
more.  More than 300 Nepalese Armies were
serving in Haiti when the earthquake hit.  It was their good luck nobody got dead. One
officer got injured.

----------I know all of the above you are trying to preach a choir.  You mean 36000 in total so far?  There is no deployment of 36000 troops at one time.  Are you kidding me?

Thousands of Nepal Army are serving in various construction projects, development projects around the country. When Maoists blocked the road construction in one district, the project was then handled by Army and they successfully constructed the road with armed security

-------Dont give me one example and justify years of doing nothing.  IF you give me a proved data that thousands of NA are serving in various project I will shut up now.  NA is should be made into a smaller section and send the rest of them to align with the Westerners....

------I am not judging anyone but simply stating the facts and its all out there.
