It depends upon the media where you are working. The top media organization like Kantipur start from 6-7 thousand with some benefits. I don't know about what't the pay scale in nagarik but honestly the newl y opened fm and tv station do not pay enough to survive for the journalist.. If you are a freelance, you can make more money by writing reports to some international news sites but you have to have a good command in writing and reporting.
When i used to work in a top media of Nepal, i used to get 7 thousand per month but that was not enough for the job of a reporter who have to go and collect the news on all direction.. So i have to quit the job and leave the country but i have heard that nagarik news is really paying a lot for its reporter. One of my brother is getting almost 40 thousand a month which is not bad in the context of Nepal but you have to be really talent and deserving in order to get that much paid...
