Back in nepal mom wake me up at 12 p.m  on saturday saying son u r lazy piece of shit wake up, i wake up took shower brush my teeth and then went to the balcony area for sunshine. i had a little headache as i was sleeping late. mom said drink tea, pour from thermos i have to wash. also eat bhat i have to wash dishes soon. omg i was just a headache to my family. the kantipur newspaper was  already there on the table as usual every morning. i grabbed and came to read an article about some Nepali lady named Sudha Shah or some shah. she came to US and ran out of money in the airport and then she was crying and some black man gave her some money to catch a taxi to the college. she worked hard every day n night and graduated from california university and now works at microsoft married to japanese or korean dude, owns worlds expensive cars like bentley or lambhorgini. I was so inspired and wana go US and be like her, achieve American dream. here I am then quit my bachelor degree in Nepal and came here now nowhere, worked hard in gas station to keep in college but i couldn't handle the stress, felt humiliated or harassed by people so dun wan work can't concentrate on college anymore, have psycological issues, can't go back Nepal without American dream nor canai live happily in US.

Sunsweesh,

Just go home. Start some nice business. I don't know if you are wealthy or not. But even if you start a good coffee shop and struggle a bit, you  might do well. It takes time, buddy, but you might end up doing well. You can always come  back to this country for visit and revisit old dreams. Just come to the term with the fact that not everyone can have luck like that of Sudha Shah's.

Once I met a Nepali working in a rural Georgian Indian restaurant. The owner of the restaurant was a Gujarati lady. She told me that the Nepali working for her was here since early 90s. The man was drunk when I saw him. I was the last customer of the restaurant, and so we talked quite a lot. The man was from Kathmandu, Jorpati, and hadn't gone back since coming here. He was still illegal. He told me that he had never sent a single penny to home and wasn't in touch with his family since long. He had no saving left, as he had the habit of spending them in casino. He was part ashamed, and wanted to feel good by continuously telling me that he didn't really gave 'a shit' about these things.

You are always precious to your family. A broken, disrupted family is never good, and no matter what, you know that you meant a lot for your parents. If you feel hard here, tell your parents earnestly about it, ask them for advice, and go home and make your family whole. Don't destroy yourself under any excuse.

[A good friend of mine finished his engineering at 35. His life is no less inspiring than others' as he came back from the brink of depression and dissolution. At home now, he has a beautiful baby daughter too. In Nepal, you can go to Vipashyana, to any long trekking and spend months there, and come back with fresh mind. Look, our country is not as bad as we make it to be.]

Dream is dream every where, either Nepal or here in US. I worked hard in Nepal, I was not able to sleep in Nepal dreaming to go outside to study or work. I was able to come here, study, work here again study, doing now PhD, but the dream is always dream. Hardship is always every where, if you have some ease in part `in life, there is another problem is waiting outside your door. Even if people go to bipaswana, problems are outside the door of bipaswana. So, it is life, you will never be satisfied, but it also depends sometime with time , environment, situation, family, friends and it happened as in order, you might be happy. If you ask anyone, are you happy, they will have always a philosophical answer. So, take it part of life.

Good luck, sunsweesh, whatever you decide to do. Just be positive. Doesn't matter what background we come from, all of us meant a lot to our parents, friends and relatives.

Problem with most of us is we  dream too much (including me) thanks god I realized that in very early stage. Now I know how to keep ambition not too high. Judge your capacity and lower down your ambition. Most important thing in life is happiness, if your ambition  comes between you and your happiness that is bad ambition.
Sunsweesh bro chill down and complete your education this is your acid test. There are problems because there are solutions. Once you complete your study then go back to Nepal and start a business or teaching in some remote village (this will not be easy too) and live comparatively happy.

There are people who have bigger problems than you but they haven't given up, you have to fight like a knight (but not with weed, drink and drugs they are the source of depression).

I don't remember who but someone said this
Success is not the final, failure is not the final it is the desire to continue that takes you to final.

Yeah I agree we expect too much from life. Try to be satisfied from what you have. Never compare yourself with others, but get inspired. Success is not about the summit you reach, its about bouncing back to summit when you fall.

Thank you guys for good suggestions but I have been reading his comments and could not match his personality with his story. I may be wrong but just trying to justify myself.
He may have very disturbed childhood or he may be dominated by others, may be lean and thin so everybody was looking him down and  may be he is just trying recover those past here in sajha. It is just my personal views. You should not go negative to every thread and should not challenge because he did not agree with you or commented hard and felt you were down again. It's the logic how you put in words has the magic. And no one is master in all subjects and those who think they are, are nothing but jack of all master of none.

Hi Sunsweesh,

The american dream, of driving Ferrari and what not, is actually dream for most of Americans. If you follow the following link on household income

You realise that only 1.5% families in the united states make more than 250K per year.  Only 15% make more than 100K. (This is before tax income).
