A group of Indians on Thursday attacked a police station in bordering Karauta of Rupandehi district.

According
to reports, an Indian national smuggling various commodities into Nepal
had run away after being spotted by a police patrol team in the border,
abandoning the consignment. However, later the same person again
entered Nepal with two dozen other Indian men and started to picket the
police station. They later started to pelt stones at the police station
demanding return of the seized consignment.

The police had no other option but to fire few rounds in the air to disperse the crowd and take the situation under control.

Locals also helped the police to drive away the irate group of Indians from the place, it is learnt. nepalnews
