We should realize that he had to compromise to some extent about revealing his nationality for the sake of his career, but this video proves that his faith was towards Nepal. and he loves Nepal. It doesn't even matter, whatever passport he has, he has such high quality voice, he can turn any song into extraordinary song. He has sung some of the best Nepalese songs we have. He is the most prolific Nepalese singer. we should at least credit him for that. He is the only reason I listen Bollywood songs. In today's global market, anyone is free to go anywhere in the world to make their future better, bottom-line is he hasn't forgotten his national origin. That's all it matters.

kathmandu ma basera thulthulo guff dine cinekarmi haru --especially those who always find a way to blame Udit-- needs to realize that for a man of Udit's talent, Kathmandu was too small. In any case, we should celebrate his success in such a big market as Bollywood.

It is sad to see Udit jasto great singer showing his passport to a journalist to prove a point.. He doesn't really have to. He can go wherever he likes. He is bigger than the puny journalists and artists of KTM who bother him all the time about Rashtriyata.

if u like this post, please post one of your favorite song by Udit. here u go, I start with these two.

@pire, that's true, he deserves more credit for his contribution to Nepalese music. Even after his busy career in Mumbai, he has given some of the best and highest no. of songs in Nepali music industry.

Sonu nigam once said that he has not seen any sweeter person than Udit Narayan. He has nothing against anybody and always says good about other. His his habit has prolonged his career even today when his contemprories like Kumar Sanu and Abhijeet are almost gone.

Quite right. It is our narrow minded nationalism which prevent us seeing the  larger picture
We are quite happy and proud to have our American or British passport but kept blaming Udit. We could never have his talent and the best we could do was criticize him. Pathetic but then what can we expect from a brain that dwells in caste and communalism.

read this first http://www.sajha.com/sajha/html/OpenThread.cfm?forum=2&ThreadID=67739  One year back he was crying loud that he is pure indian because some padam shiit is only given to indian and he was given finally. Main problem with him is he claims of either one whenever that is needed and suitable, a pure opportunist.  Khate haru j bhane pane biswas garne  ani yeha blah blah. Google first what he said in media when his takma was blocked. When he is sued for alimony from first wife he is nepali  and never was married before, if he needs indian takma he is pure bihari. So does it matter what he is really? NO , do you believe what he say anything these days ?HELL  NO

thanks guys for the responses,
@ ( * )( * ) thats right, he'd lied and compromised for the sake of his career in Mumbai in some instances, he has legal rights too to say he is Indian for his benefit after such a long service in India, his social works during Bihar flooding. Anyway he is way more Nepali than Prashant Tamang or freakin Manisha Koirala. That's because he has been touch with Nepali film industry and culture since the beginning of his career till this date and has knowledge on Nepali music and cinema. I bet Udit would be given more recognition in Nepal if he were not Madhesi or had no Madhesi accent. Like I said, whether he is indian or Nepali, his Nepali fans like me will still love him as long as he keep on singing some of the best Nepali songs. BTW,
 अयं निज: परो वेति गणना लघुचेतसाम्।

This is mine or else’s is the way narrow minded people count. But for broad minded people, the world is our family.

Agree with you soaltee.

People felicitate US based Nepali (including Samrat Upadhyay etc)--who often have already renounced their Nepali passport. But with Udit, it is always hounding..

People need to know how to respect a man who enriched their culture immensely.

May be it is because he is from Madhesh, or may be because he came from a family that is not influential in KTM, he is being hurt by some petty nationalists. Such a shame ..
