Invitation to all the Basketball players for NNS Hoops Day 2011


To all the guys and gals around U.S. and A., who prides themselves on their basketball talent OR if you are a big time basketball fans …. It’s that time of the year again. For past 7 years we Nebraska Nepalese Society have been hosting one of a kind basketball tournament catering the needs of those who like to compete and win and feel alive in the basketball arena.
Joining us this year’s tournament are teams from Arizona, Minnesota, Kansas, Colorado and two teams from Nebraska.  To make it a bigger and better experience, we are making this event public to see if any other teams out there are interested in taking the challenge and wish to travel to Nebraska to meet, greet, have some fun and play the game of BASKETBALL.

Program schedule:
Venue – Bellevue University
Games will be in a league format.
March 12 – 2:30 PM to 9:30 PM
March 13 – 10 AM to 3 PM
Registration Deadline Friday, March 4th
Registration Fees: Men’s $125 Women’s $50

Rules & Regulations (Men’s and Women’s)
The organizing committee intends to strictly enforce the NBA and WNBA rules (WWW.NBA.COM and WWW.WNBA.COM) and expects full co-operation from all of the teams involved.
  1. Minimum 5 players and Maximum 10 players per team
  2. GAME DURATION (Men*)
    • Two 20 minutes periods, clock will stop on last 2 minutes of each half, 5 minute half time. (March 12th games)
    • Two 20 minutes periods, clock will stop on last 2 minutes of each half, 10 minute half time. (March 13th games)
    • Overtime 10 minutes until game is decided.
    • Each team shall be allowed two time outs of 1 minute each per half (total 4).
  3. GAME DURATION (Women*)
    • Two 20 minute periods, 5 minute half time.
    • 5 minutes overtime until the game is decided.
    • Each team shall be allowed two time outs of 1 minute each per half (total 4).
  4. No player is allowed to play from a different team within the same event.
  5. All players of a team must have matching uniforms.
  6. When in the opinion of the referee the jersey colors of the two teams are too similar, the team registered later is required to change.
  7. Substitution is unlimited and it must be made with the consent of the referee.
  8. Rules related to ball movements, body movement such as traveling, screens, dribble techniques, jump and rebounds, tip offs, shooting, shooting fouls etc., which are related to the game shall be followed according to the NBA (WWW.NBA.COM) rules and regulations.
  9. Violation of conduct/ sportsmanship may lead to disqualification of the team.
  10. One & one. If the team committing the foul has seven or more fouls in the game, then the player who was fouled is awarded one free throw. If he makes his first shot, then he is awarded another free throw.
  11. Ten or more fouls. If the team committing the foul has ten or more fouls, then the fouled player receives two free throws.
  12. A player is disqualified upon picking up his sixth foul.
