APPEAL

CVICT Cautions All Against Malicious News

Centre for Victims of Torture (CVICT), Nepal is extremely concerned with the fake, fabricated, and fictitious news published to defame Dr Bhogendra Sharma, the President of CVICT and the organization in a daily newspaper recently. CVICT solicits the attention of all concerned to the following highlights:

1. Since last 14 years, CVICT has been the leading non-governmental agency providing service all over the nation to the victims of torture, perpetrated both by the state and the opposition groups. The organization has been providing training and consultative service to several similar centers in Asia, Africa and other countries across the world.

2. The newspaper has raised the issue of transparency quoting one of the ex-CVICT staff, who was fired following financial misappropriation and other misconduct in the past. Dr Sharma, the President of the organization refutes that all charges baseless and malicious, by an axed official, as an envious act of deranged personality.

3. This organization, therefore, appeals all the friends and friendly organizations not to be mislead by ill-intended allegations and show their solidarity against the threats and blackmail from these deranged persons or groups. Your concern, support and solidarity are the main strength of our organization and its 4,150 staff and volunteers.

4. CVICT further asserts to our service seekers and our well-wishers that the centre maintains its responsible and transparent operation despite the challenges posed by the destructive attempts through these defaming activities.

5. CVICT is prepared to face any lawful challenges and maintain its national and international image and mission for prevention of torture and treatment for the survivors within the countries and abroad.

6. CVICT thanks its staff and volunteers to for their high standing and morality to execute their responsibilities and requests its service seekers not to be falsified on conjured publications. The centre will further emerge and continue to lead its ongoing services on regular basis.

7. Destructive minds have no place in civil society. If you receive such malicious news aimed to destroy the image of our President and the organization, we urge you to take a note of caution and inform us regularly.
