KATHMANDU, APR 04 - Police Chief Ramesh Chand Thakuri has told the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) that he was not involved in embezzlement during the procurement of Armed Personnel Carriers (APCs) or other logistics for the Sudan-based Nepal Police Peace Keeping Mission.

The investigation report into the Sudan-scam prepared by the probe committee of the Parliamentary State Affairs Committee indicates that a sum of Rs. 340 million was misappropriated while purchasing APCs and other logistics worth Rs. 450 million for the Nepali peace keeping mission in Sudan.

Meanwhile, Former IGPs Om Bikram Rana Thakuri and Hem Bahadur Gurung also reached the CIAA office to record their statements on the procurement of the APCs and other logistics. Rana and Gurung tried to come clean by pointing fingers at each other, sources said.
