Dear Sajha members, I've been trying to go back to college. I already have some college credits behind me. I had to discontinue my education because of some personal problems. I'm in such a job at the moment that would not let me attend regular (face-to-face) classes. That's why I'm thinking about taking online degree. Since my previous college credits are from engineering, I've been looking for online engineering degree. So far from my research, I've not found any university that offers BE degree completely online, there are some though that offer Bachelor of Science in engineering technology program (BET). Since engineering and engineering technology are two different things, what do you think, is this type of degree going to help me get any engineering job? Is this just going to be complete waste of time and effort? How about if I want to go for masters in engineering afterwards? Is there any university that accept graduates from BET in their ME program? Any engineering technology graduates, or anyone having adequate knowledge on this matter, I would appreciate your suggestion.

I have few friends working with me who got to Engineering department after taking classes online (they were still called analyst though as the classes were like what you said). But they were already working for the firm.
I have yet to see an engineer hired by my firm who got his digree from online school. I doubt you will get any good education from these for-profit entities.
Why doesn't your job let you take a part time, after-work, classes?

online degrees are waste of money. you will be treated like a second class engineer.

@stifler: thanks for the information. What I meant by my job wouldn't let me go college is I have to keep on moving, I never can be sure I'll be at one place for the whole semester.
@ Drkanchho: Points noted. I kinda feel that way too.
