A Lesson Mr. Pralad KC Must Learn

It is so unfortunate to have ANA's bone to pick with Mr. Pralad for the betterment of society. Could you look straight in your nearest and dearest one's eyes and speak with a forked tongue two more times? I bet you; you can't. It is because a quality people with good values, integrity, and a little feeling never visibly gets blossomed on such fabricated story. I know you are better than this sir.  Once Shiva Khera told" It is not how much you eat that matter, what matters is how much you digest." Therefore, please do not kick up such a fuss about your game that nobody digests.

Unfortunately, you did blunder by instigating people who are busy as grand central station for ANA's convention. And you are whistling for prestige as ANA's president!   And, you are as happy as a lark in your own world on the horns of dilemma. And why why why you could not dare to fight in election by convincing ANA's members by stopping all hemming and hawing.  Therefore, Mr. Pralad, your self -declared team worth next to nothing until it is tested by people.  Such naïve and baseless statement might prove you and your team incompatible for any national organization for the future too.  It is ill- assorted cosmic irony to thank ANA's members and ridicule them at the same time.  It would sound better if you would have written "self generated life members from family of seven living in North America."  In this light, I challenge you to show 242  life members' paid receipts including your own publicly. If President Obama and Governor Boby Jindal can show their birth certificates, dare to show life members' paid receipts to prove your integrity!  In return, I can demonstrate at least 20 ANA members' paid receipts and won't forget mine. Now it is crystal clear that you directed their name to be excluded on your so called "verified list" and you quickly plunge into and penetrate such extremist, autocratic act of declaring yourself a "president".

Everybody can tolerate clash in ideas in a democratic process. But, the lick and promise that you have been relying on currently does not last long.  Believe or not, personally, I don't want all the e-mails generated by your group including this one not having any other ruse than a semantic mugging with a purpose becoming self declared leaders in North America welcoming all ignominy possible. The cold reality is that you and your team don't have believe on own leadership. Do you? Now, I won't be surprise if you declare yourself the president of universe with the same 242 self created life members in the midst of bylaws interpreted in your favor only because you are their long time friend. . What a utopian society you are dreaming for sir. Come on, wake up now and prove otherwise!  Husband your energy and face challenge with all presidential candidates in a debate to be held in DC convention to persuade members with your agendas and defeat all of us in a real election.  Let's learn a lesson of a democracy and transparency before it is belated for the advancement of our society!!! Plus, do not forget to read A. Pope's mock epic  A Rape of a Lock  over summer.

To the ANA Members of the executive board and all other members of the ANA

Mr. Prhalad K.C.’s self-claim as the president of ANA is to the best as gag, or aprils fools joke in July in the Nepalese community on following factual grounds.

  1. The chairman of membership verification committee has acknowledged publicly that the said verification opinions were flawed.
  2. Mr. K.C. himself has not proved his claim as “a life-member of ANA” to either MVCANA or election committee (in this respect any classes of member) in the same manner other candidates were asked to do so. Therefore, his candidacy was invalid in accordance to the ANA election process.
  3. Raja Upaydheya have been suspended as a chair member of the ANA election committee on the following grounds.
  1. Abandonment of responsibility
  2. Bridge of authority
  3. Manipulation of election process
  4. Conspiracy to fraud election result.
  1. Others

Thus, Raja Upaydheya unilateral and personal actions have been overruled and rejected by the election committee, ITFANA, the executive board and ANA members. The ITFANA has undertaken all necessary and legal recourses in this matter. Thus, Mr. K.C is free to report to Raja Upaydheya at his resident as a self-claimed president by conspiring plot to deny ANA members their right to vote.

The plot to conspire election out come in ANA by select few to bless their obedient apprentices is over, too bad for Mr. K.C. Make no mistake, the days of denying ANA member’s their right to vote in the election is over. The day to undermine and underestimate peoples right to vote is over.

Only people choose their leader, not select few, even if they were named “Raja” or that matter “Rani”.

The executive board and ITFANA have postponed the election of the ANA for electing officers for 2011-2013 and notified the authorities accordingly.

Mr. K.C.’s claim as “the president” favored by a “Raja” is nothing more then an attempt to muddle up the 4th of July ANA convention. For the record, let it be known to all that Mr. Pralhad K.C. had lobbied as a Senior vice president of NRNNCC/USA to boycott the upcoming ANA convention. Anyone may verify this by calling any executive officers of the NRNNCC/USA. Further, Mr. Lamichhaney, one of the higher officers of the NRNICC had in principle withdrawn his rushed congratulatory note to Mr. K.C. and pack informing that he was unaware of ANA disputes.

What kind of president-elect of ANA lobbies to boycott the ANA convention? If this is not a gag, let the people be the judge.

Tsewang Sherpalama
Chairman
Independent Task Force of Association of Nepalese in Americas

            ANA Election 2011 Update

            Dear All,

As you all know, the ANA Election Commission was formed by a mandate from the ANA General Body. Likewise, a Membership Verification Team was constituted on the same day by the General Body. The Membership Verification Team provided a report of its findings and a list of valid      members on June 8, 2011. Subsequently, the Election Commission came up with the following deadline for filing of nominations:
            ·

                *  Nomination Filing Deadline: Friday, June 10, 2011
                * First of list of eligible voters and nominees to be published, Sunday, June 12, 2011
                * Final list of eligible voters and nominees to be published, Tuesday June 14, 2011
                * Ballots to be mailed, Thursday, June 16, 2011
                * Ballots to be received by Friday, July 1, 2011
                * Vote counted on July 4, 2011 at the ANA Convention Site

In order to conduct a free and fair election, the Election Commission rented a UPS mailbox, close to the upcoming convention site in Chantilly, VA. The ballots were to be opened at the convention site on July 4th.

The election committee was delayed in publishing the list of the candidates by one day because of the weekend and also due to the confusion related to the membership list. It seemed like a few paid members’ names were missing from the list which the ANA Executive Board would provide to the election committee after consulting with the membership verification committee. However, to date no updates have been provided. Therefore, I Raja      Prasad Upadhyay, as the Chair of the Election Committee, consider the membership list published by the ANA Membership Verification Committee to be a full and final list. Accordingly, verification has been done against this list.

The election commission has received nominations for the post of the following positions within the stipulated time frame:

Nominees for the position of the President:

                * Mr. Dhiren Gurung, TX (Seconded by Mr. Murali Adhikari and Mr. Arjun Mainali)
                * Mr. Pralhad KC, MA (Seconded by Dr. Hari Sharma, Mr. Girija Gautam and Dr. Ambika Adhikari)
                * Mr. H. B. Bhandari (Seconded by Mr. Arjun Hamal, and Mr. Bharat Baraili)

Nominees for the position of Vice President:

                * Mr. Roger Adhikari, CA (Seconded by Mr. Pralhad KC, and Dr. Ambika Adhikari)
                * Mr. Sambhu Dhungana, CA (withdrawn on 06/09/11)
                * Mr. Robin Thapa, MD (Seconded by Khem Bhattachan and Bishwa Raj Thapa)

Nominees for the position of General Secretary:

                * Bijay Thapa, MD (Seconded by Ms. Shashi KC and Mr. Binaya Aryal)
                * Radha Basnyat, CANADA (Seconded by Dr. Ambika Adhikari, and Mr. Pralhad KC)

Nominees for the position of Treasurer:

                * Dr. Gambhir M. Shrestha, FL (Seconded by Mr. Sambhu Dhungana and Mr. Pralhad KC)
                * Mr. Jangbu Sherpa, MA (Seconded by Mr. Binaya Aryal, and Mr. Bijay Thapa)

Nominees for the position of Information Director

                * Kumar Deuja, MD (Seconded by Mr. Bishwa Raj Thapa, Mr. Khem Bhattachan)
                * Dr. Tulasi Joshi, WV (Seconded by Dr. Ambika Adhikari, Mr. Roger Adhikari)

The candidacy of these nominees was verified against the membership list published by the Membership Verification Committee and the final list of candidates is as follows:

                * President: Prahlad KC
                * Vice President: Roger Adhikari
                * General Secretary: Radha Basnyat
                * Treasurer: Dr. Gambhir M. Shrestha
                *  Information Director: Dr. Tulasi Joshi

Other candidates were disqualified because their names were not in the membership list provided by the Membership Verification Committee. As per by-laws of ANA, to be nominated for a position a person must be a member of the association for at least a year and must be an executive board member for at least one year.

Since, only one valid candidacy could be verified for each position, as the chairman of the ANA Election Commission, I declare those candidates as elected officers for the term July 2011 – June 2013.

I would like to thank the ANA Members and the Executive Board for giving me the opportunity to serve as the Election Committee Chair. It was a privilege to work for ANA and bring this issue to closure. A postponement of election is neither desirable nor necessary or tolerable to me, as I was charged with the job of conducting the election. It is in keeping with ANA tradition for the last 28 years.

            Thank you.

            Sincerely,
            Raja Prasad Upadhyay
            Election Committee Chair
            Association of Nepalis in Americas
