 I'm currently on F1 visa in the States but my visa has expired last December (2010). My family is in UK and I also have the ILE ( like green card ) of UK. Now I'm thinking of going to UK and renewing my visa there. Does anyone here know what will be the consequences of doing so? What is the possibility that the American consulate there will give me a F1 visa? I would be grateful if anyone here knows about this. Thank you.

 You shouldn't have a problem provided that you manage to present documents that suffice their two requirements - 

1. You have no intent of living here permanently. 
2. You can afford to pay your tuition and other expenses. 

Side note, you have a stronger chance of getting a visa as you already have an ILE status.
