In the above thread, Sidster bro had expressed this view point:

I am all for any kind of tourist attraction to Nepal, be it Trecking, Hiking, rafting, Religious, Sexual Orientation, music, handicraft, cultures and so on. My OPINION is that anything that helps bringing Nepal's name into international media is good for Nepal's economy. That is my opinion and opinion only.

So I was thinking about that. Without considering good or bad, why not make a list of everything in the last 50 years that has attracted foreigners to Nepal? Can you guys fill in what I've missed below?

Pilgrimage to Lord Pashupatinath, trekking, mountaineering, Mt Everest (and other mountain ranges), rafting, Swayambhu, Boudhanath, bycycling, photography, various temples with various dieties, folk lore, Kumari

Cheap hasish and marijuana (drugs in general), the lack of strict laws and the fact that you can use money to grease the palms of power

All the attractions in Pokhara, King Birendra's Coronation, SAARC, Thamel, Yaks, Yetis, indigenous populations, learning scripture, "Last Hindu Kingdom," Maoists (socialism)

Buddhism, Hinduism, Tibetan refugees, Peace Corp, Foreign NGO jobs, working in international schools, volunteering,
Nepali people's "beautiful and peaceful nature,"

Nepali music - jyaure, Maithili,

Dance - Thakali dance, Nepali dance

Food - Nepali, [Disallowed String for - castist references disallowed]i, Thakali

shopping - carpets, thangka's, handicrafts of all softs,

What more could you add to this list?

Karma yogi, thanks for your input.

LOL, isn't it hillarious that on sajha, the word "Ne-war" or "Ne-war-i" is a *dissallowed string- due to castist reference?* So apparantly it is a bad word now

I wrote bhot-e jatra above and I got the same thing.

While we're at it let's ban the word Nepal and Nepali as well.
