94% rise in Nepali workers leaving for overseas jobs
The number of Nepali citizens leaving for overseas jobs has increased by 94.14 percent compared to last year. According to the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFI), 47,4176 citizens left for overseas jobs during the mid-October to mid-November.
Last year, 23,367 had left during the same period. According to the data, 95% of them are male and nearly 55% left through personal contacts while the rest left through institutional means.
The total number of citizens leaving for foreign countries for work has also reached 156,730 during the first four months (July to November) of the current fiscal year. The DoFi reports that more than 49,000 left for Qatar, Malaysia stood second at 32,661 workers and Saudi Arabia and UAE were the next top destinations for Nepali workers.
