Guys,

Be careful while sending money to Nepal through money transfer.Let me share my experience. I send money to Nepal recently through moneygrams in Walmart. I usually send through Moneygrams as I believe  is the most reliable agent and their exchange rate is also not bad. The problem beings in Nepal as someone stranger called to my Mom and said "your Son has send money from USA and we will be glad to to pick you to our office. Our guys will help you get money without any trouble. We provide you transport facility too." What? Wait a second ! There are hundred of monegrams agent in Kathmandu and prolly thousands in all our Nepal, and why this guy called my home and being so much loyal to my mom. She became suspicious and said "No Thank you, I know where to go and collect money."

This incident has raised a lots of serious concern about the security of the transaction in Nepal. Think of an uneducated people who might be easily carried away by the soft voice the service provider to pickup. We have heard of many incident in the valley that people robbed during day light while collecting money from bank /ATM/agents. So, carrying cash is much risky.

So, please inform your parents and friends not to believe on such calls and go to the safest agents near to the bank and deposit ASAP. The best way to avoid being rubbed is not to trust anybody and go to these places which is safe and familiar.

If you guys have experience similar kind of incident, please share and spread to other people and let them know in Nepal too. Have a good weekend. I am running globenepal dot com website and please support us by visiting that site. Thanks
