Nepalese Student Crowned 'Miss Asian UCO 2012'

NEPALESE STUDENT CROWNED ‘MISS ASIAN UCO 2012’

University of Central Oklahoma student Oasis Poudyal was crowned Miss Asian UCO 2012 at Central’s annual scholarship pageant celebrating Asian culture on campus.

Poudyal is a musical performance major from Kathmandu, Nepal. She will represent Central at the Miss Asian Oklahoma pageant.

“I was completely taken by surprise when they announced I won the title,” said Poudyal.

“I grew close with the other contestants during preparation for the competition, and I know how talented each of them is.”

Poudyal also received a $1,600 scholarship as a part of her winnings. She said she plans to develop additional programming to help reduce the language barrier for international students who speak English as their second language.

The Miss Asian UCO pageant is sponsored by Central’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Asian American Student Association.
