Looking for a good Nurse Practitioner Program in the US, likely in the SouthWest: Texas, Oklohoma or any other states. Location does not matter if the graduate program is flexible with international applicatns, provide scholarship opportunities and does not have tedious requirements. Suggestions from students currently enrolled in this kind of graduate school will be greatly appreciated. Appreciate any kind of appropriate response.

I have a question for you. are you planing to transfer from Nepal or are you currently in USA and want to transfer from another university?
** If you are planing to come from Nepal is, be sure make ur paper work. Most of the university in Texas needs 1 years of experience in med-surg or ICU, If GPA <3.0, GRE but if you are coming from nepal, definately GRE and ToEFL regardless of ur GPA.
I would recommend other universities like University of Nebreska, Sunny upstate medical university in buffalo, NY. These both universities provides CPT (I have email from international student advisor) and they have their own teaching hospital so that once you finish your education, it would be easier to get job. They dont need GRE however if you are coming from nepal, definately you need GRE.
** About texas espt university of texas at arlington, You have to make an appointment with nursing director who can give you advice and they have right to skip your 1 year experience if you show enough knowledge that you are eligible for NP candidate.

** The reason why i know this is coz, I have been communicating through email with these colleges. I am planing to go for masters in fall for acute NP and i want to go this year coz they are making it 4 yrs program by next year. But i finished my BSN here in USA though and I am tired of working and felt like I should go back to college again.

** Thanks... Well gud luck.. If you have any question, let me know and i can suggest some universities which are on my list and application deadline for fall is feb 1st for most universities.

 thapar20,

Thank you very much for your reply. Actually, I finished my BSN here in the US. About to finish my 1 year OPT and planning to go back to school. It looks like no H1, nor greencard for RNs these days.  I have good GPA and decent GRE score to get admitted to any university. The only issue that I am having is most of the programs look for at least 2 years experience for NP and I don't think I will be able to pay my tuition unless I get some kind of help, and only not all programs take international students. If you could, please suggest some universities so that I can do some more research before its too late. Thank you again for your help. Good luck with your studies too.

I know I am also being late for applying Masters. But I am starting to apply from next week beacuse I need the recommendation letters from my professors as well.
Ok here is my suggestion:
... I found that most universities dosnt give any schollarship for masters. But will give you schollarship for PHD program. since you already have Good gre score N GPA, you can go for PHD program.
... University of Nebrerska at Omah has RA or RT position which gives you free tution and since you have GRE also, you will qualify for that. But i doubt you will get in first semsester.
... Masters in NP is around $$8000 per semester in most universities and I know its expensive for us but be prepare for that. GRE doesnt give you any schollarship, its just give you a position to enter in program
... Here was my other choices: wayne state university- MI, deadline: May 1st
: medical univerisity of south carolina
                                                     : New york university. feb1st
But these universities may not be your choice since these all expensive and doesnt locate in south.. except I believe of south carolina which has low tution fee. Personally, I think unless you apply for PHD, most universities dont give any schollarship to nursing student. But once you are in program and accepted for RA or TA, you will get tution off. And also if you dont have any experience in nursing, its worthless going in PHD program.
yes, its tough out there to get nursing job.  I felt like I am loosing my skills everyday.N I regret not getting job in hospital. But there is no option and we have to start from anywhere we can...
well gud luck to ur future.. tell me if you found any good n cheap university.  I am a regular sajha reader. well also, If you wana do MBA, Amberton university is cheap in texas that is located in garland.
Any way....
TC..
