Beware of marrying H1 holders especially on computer field as job is not fixed.H1 holders have the pride in them they got the visa from education and you life will be very hard to adjust with these guys.So my personla experience if you have green card then find green card or citizen. Also visa is very hard to get renewed for H1 visa.

Firstly, there is no doubt that marrying a citizen is easier for the spouse, from the point of view of immigration, than anything else. But about green card, it is not easy as well because if the wife is in neapl they have to wait quite a long period of time. It is true that H1 is not as strong as used to be because people are getting laid of very easily. But I would not compare H1 with green card because both of them have good and bad sides when compared to each other.

My mom says H1 stands for  Hauday No.1 ho....'cause last year she got a call from her friend who lives in VA regarding my Rishta

the boy is ati asal, jaat pani milcha. khandani, bla bla, makes money..this n that...kasto guun gaan...company ko director re..

I saw his picture, he looks OK. But I had no intention to meet him right away.

Later in a week, my mom came to my room and said, That guy is not after your A$$. What! I looked at my back and said all men try to approach me 'cause of this bump...

She said not this Hauday No. 1. The guys family requested my mom to upgrade his status right away after the marriage since I am a  citizen. And he is in a H1 visa.

yo sansar ma 3 kiasm ka mancheharu hunchan. eeuta jo aru le aafu vanda badi garyo (in this case pdyo F1 ma us aayo ra H1 vayoo or directly H1 ma us aayo) vane samman garchan. arko le bal dindainan ra tesro le chai irsha garchan.

irsha garne haru 3 khalka hunchan eeuta jo irsa garera tyo vanda ma ramro garchu vanne soch rakchan, arko chup lagera baschan ani tesro chai public ma aayera nana vati ko kura garchan.

so you ask yourself where do you fit in. and next time dont compare someone who got GC for free and someone who earned it.

there are many ways to get green card, thanks to maoist. but think about how many ways there are to go to school and get degree.

H1 fokat ma mildaina, GC milcha

Guys/gals,
I am bit surprised when someone here said GC fokat aaucha while H1.
i agree with everyone here that you need to have certain degree to get H1....but people use this desi consultancy to find jobs (how??...everyone knows). I know people will argue ..not all and i accpet that.

So since not all GC holder are illiterate to acquire corporate job like not all H1 holder are genuine.

Couple of years ago even H1 was in lottery system like DV.

My two cent"respect yourselves and what you have ..GC or H1"

My two cents is that this topic doesn't deserve this much of discussion.

Thanks for sharing. I have more to say, don't ever marry doctors too they are pretty stupid. Also, don't marry those who have elder brothers in army, you get beating everytime you visit them. Also, don't marry those who did undergrad from Nepal because they always snore while sleeping, and also don't marry nepali who got US visa from Australia, they have hard time understanding your English.
I do not have any personal experience on these, but have heard from several people like steve2012.

I was tempted to write in this thread. Seems everybody hates desi consultancy. Yes they do fake resumes, but who ever has gone through this knows well, how much effort they have to put during early days and in training. Of-course it may not justify faking it entirely, after staying in this market for more than 7 yrs, I know for sure that lot of this things has to do with corporates. They have completely stop college recruitment, training programs, internal promotion etc. Their make  job requirement on which hardly any fresher can apply, evon though it is not required. They prefer fresher with fake resume as contractor over full time intern with benefit. Fresh graduate student have to compete with folks from India who come in l1/h1/b1 etc from these stupid outsourcing company and work in 40k for yrs. These corporate and government policy left no choice for fresh students especially in IT industry. So there is always two side, student are not the only one to be blamed. I am sure most of these student like I was once, would be more than happy to take entry level position/ internship if it was an option.

Regarding marriage I don't know , but I am sure who came here as student , complete his/her school ( without asylum) , got h1 ( even though frm consulting) , and got green, deserve hats off for all the effort they put , all they have been through all those yrs.

This no way it is comparable to DV.

Here's my 2 cents, take it or leave it:

We need immigration reform that includes following three points:
  • Better authentication of refugees.  I see far too many fake refugees gaming the system, don't you?
  • Eliminate DV program.  We should attract best and the brightest, not those with luck by chance.
  • Make it easier and quicker for those who graduate with Masters or PhD degree in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) from accredited US universities.
I beleive Canada and Australia does it better than the USA.  There should be point system.  This is, in my opinion, good not only for the US interest but also best for Nepali diaspora here who want to settle in America.

2001 - Graduated from undergraduate program (Baruch College CUNY)
2002 - OPT (The New York Times)
2003 - H1B (The New York Times)
2005 - Green Card (sponsored by the New York Times)
2009 - Graduated from MBA program (Fordham University)
2010 - Became a naturalized US citizen
2011 - Currently working for the Federal Government

All in all, it has taken me a little over a decade to become a citizen since arriving here.  I believe that if you work hard, are patient and stick to what you aim for, eventually, you will reach your goal.  Good luck to you all!

while back i came to this country as a PhD sutdent in F1 visa status. during my academic career i have seen may friends come to US with DV GC. many times i have been dissappointed for the fact that i have been filling the eDV every year and never won the lottery. but what made me happy at the begining was the respect that those frens would have for you. even though their possibility of getting into grad school but fatter, they never got into one. i dont know the reason as i never dared to ask. possibily becasue they have more opportunity to explore unlike f1 who have to study if you want your status to survive.

this was in the begining. with time i have seen changes in those frens. or may be its just my thought. they way they used to talk to me and they looked me was not the same. it appeard as if i didnt have anything that i deserved to be respected for. its not that i lust respect from my frens. i was so much absorbed in figuring out how to get out of this grad school odreal that i never had thought i had something to be respected for. bottom line i was busy taking care of my shit that i never cared what people thought about me.

now it feels like shit. i have lost my frens. they arent the same anymore. and the sad part is i never knew what did i do wrong to deserve this. or where did our views disaggred. i dint come to the us to be better then my frens nor i came here to prove anything. i just found out an opportunity to run away from my misery.

i never understood why people have such an opinion. the differences between F1 and DV is worse here in the US than the caste system in nepal.

its just a green card
