hi sajha colleagues,
I am civil engineer (BE from nepal) and master degree in water resources management ( germany). Currently I am working with a very renowend INGO as an expatriate. My family is eligible to immigrate to USA. Thanks to my family reasons it seems that I can not continue my job as an expat. In this context, I am wondering how can I build my career in USA up. Can I find a job , relevant to my experiences in development organisations? or shall I take yet a US degree ? Any job sites/web pages are worth to follow up? I am in total doldrums, please advise me !

I disgree with the comments above. If you can come here legally, do so. America is a land of opportunity, Although i dont work in your feild, I am sure you will get some kind of job.

Its pretty hard to find jobs these days but i wouldnt say its not possible.  May be you might find a job in your field but there are always other fields who would give a job to you.. There is a difference in how office work, the communication flow works so you might find it hard to get a job based on the fact that you have never worked here or lived here. They are always looking for someone who has stayed or worked in US for atleast a year. I am not sure about yout field, but i have heard many engineers switching their jobs carreer cause they couldnt find it, and with families and having to relocate all the time makes it worse.

Im just telling you about the worse case senario. you never know you might get lucky and will be able to get a job soon.  but thats a risk you have to take to know which side of the wall you lie.

Well all the best!
And yes do search on job sites if they are providing any jobs. they have a lot of listing on sites.. That can give you a better idea on how your area of expertise is doing
