 Hey immigration gurus,

Please share your thoughts…

My I-485( EB3, priority date July 2007 ), After Senator Chuck Grassley  announced that he was lifting his "hold" on H.R. 3012, The Fairness to High-Skilled Immigrants Act(The bill proposes a phased-in elimination of per-country numerical limitations in the employment-based (EB) green card categories). I am wondering

What is the earliest possible date this bill will be law?
Do you think this bill will have major impact on my case?
Do I have to worry at all?

Any other suggestion !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks !

I think you do have reason to be cautious. If it becomes law by September, you are screwed. There are rumors that there are 2 more holds by senators and we can hope that it doesn't become law.

Yes, if it becomes law in few months you have to wait for another 3-5 years (may be) because it has to fulfill visa for all EB2, all EB3 IC since 2002 and EB3 before 2007.  But I read somewhere that there are more senators who put hold on HR 3012. Just hope that it wont progress anything in another 2 months then it wont pass till new president or presidency.

By the way, I have one question: how to know your priority date? Like if you have perm applied on date1, perm approved on date 2, I-140 applied on date 2, and I-140 approved on date 3, then what is his priority date for I-485?
