 Hello sajha users,

Got offered for 2 of the FT jobs but got confused with the job category EB2 or EB3 for Green Card processing

No. 1 says:

Required  qualification : Bachelor Degree or equivalent
If any degree/training required, please specify: Computer Science (will consider 6 years of education/experience combined)
Required Experience: 2 years

Preferred qualification: None

No 2 says:

Required qualification: Bachelor degree or equivalent
If any degree/training required, please specify: Computer Science(will consider 6 years of education/experience combined)
Required Experience: 2 years

Preferred qualification: Master degree
If any degree/traning required, please specify: Computer Science( will consider  6 years of education/experience combined)

Hope to get good suggestions.

 Both are EB3 category

Required education is only Bachelors degree and 2 years of Experience hence EB3 category (takes about 5-6 years to get green card)

Thank u US returnee for the information. However, job no 2 says, preferred qualification is Master degree and if we consider 6 years of education and experience combined as job posting says, won't it fall under Eb2 ? I have Master degree in CS with 5 years of genuine experience from abroad and US.

Any thoughts..

PREFERRED EDUCATION OR PREFERRED EXPERIENCE DOESN"T COUNT !

ONLY "REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
 OR REQUIRED EDUCATION COUNTS "

It doesn't matter whether you've Masters or PhD....What matters is "What the Job Requires".

Since your Job no 2 requires "6 years combined education & experience (that means bachelors + 2 years exp) ...It is not qualified for Eb2 !

To Qualify for EB2. your job no 2 has to say following

No 2 says:

Required qualification: Bachelor degree or equivalent
Required Experience: 5+ years

OR

Required qualification:
Master's Degree in computer science or related area
Required Experience : 0 (yes it can be 0 years experience if the job says Masters required)

Then you qualify for EB2

Hope this helps.

I was wondering about that preferred and required qualification only.

I will talk with my Director and HR dept and will try to change that preferred qualification to required qualification.

Lets see how things will turn out.

Thanks for the info.

You might want to consult with Immigration Attorney before you talk to your company.

Most companies have their own Immigration Attorney.

Good luck.
