They'll charge you by "inches". If you know anybody working in Bhansar, you might try it. How are you planning to take it anyway? In your briefcase?

Don't bothe,r it won't be worth it. The hassles and taxes.

Assuming you are taking it from US,I hope you know about difference in voltage.

Also Pal and NTSC are two incompatible system, so you won't be able to watch tv. Maybe just dvd and cds.

NTSC( National Televison System Comittee) is used in TVs sold in North America but back home it's PAL( Phase Alternation by Line). Converting first into latter isn't impossible but aint worth the hassle. I'd suggest you to buy somewhere up there for e.g. Bhatvateni super market.

I saw Samsung LED 40" TV for about NRS 95,000 + VAT in Samsung authorized dealter in kathmandu. I think you can buy TV in Kathmandu. I understand you can get really good deal here on Blackfriday, however as other's mentioned, the incompatibility in system is not worth it.
I took movie projector this year, and it fit in my carry on luggage. It was really nice projector with 3D feature and cost only about $ 500 in Amazon. I suggest you can think about that.

@ riddle I am just gonna take it as samsung ships me as a checked baggage.  The only reason I am thinking about doing so is coz the T.V model my dad is looking for samsung 46" led 5300 is not available in Nepal as per my dad.
If anyone knows otherwise please let me know.

no extra fee to pay when TV is taken as a checked baggage? so 2 TVs can be taken for 2 checked bags?

do you call in the airlines some days ago and drop the tv off before flying? does it have to be repacked again besides the standard factory packing?

let us know how the bhansar stuff goes in nepal at the airport

prawashi bro:  The airlines website says i can take one personal item so Im counting on it. Even if thats not true i can still take two luggages under 50 pounds ,combined. So yes, I am hoping i can check the tv as one of my luggage. Yes,  I will let you know how it rolls.

p.s : I dont know what you mean by replacing the factory shipping. coz what are you gonna replace it with? I am just gonna mark it as fragile and leave the rest on Lord Almighty.
