I am planing to travel  Nepal  in May 2013  and my passport is going to expire in October 2013. So there will be less than 6 month left in passort when I fly to Nepal. I heard that you can't fly if your passport validity is less than 6 month. I don't see any reason for that as I am flying to Nepal and once I am there I will get the new passport when I fly back to US. Please let me know if anyone knoew more about this.

You'll be fine as you're going to be traveling back with a renewed passport.

Just got a call from the travel agent and he still says that passport should at least 6 month left. Otherwise you won't be allowed to fly. I could not make any sense of this since I am fyling back to my home country with a valid passport. It makes sense that I need a passport with at least 6 month left when I have to enter the US but not sure how it works when I go to Nepal . I tried to look for more info on this but could not see anything like that. I was wondering if someone else have had similar situation?

You might wanna call the embassy to be on the safe side. In any case, why don't you apply for renewal from here?

I thought about renewing the passport over here. I heard that they won't renew it if the old one still have more than six month left. By the time it will be less than 6 month (that is in April 2013) I will have less than 3 weeks left for the travel. Having said all this, these are all what I have heard.I haven;t found anything in black and white I will definitely call the embassy once it open in Tuesday as it is a long weekend.

The thing is that I was trying to get that Qatar airways deal which expires today and for that I need to know my passport situation. Bhut le khaja khane bela ma pare jasto cha!!!
