 Hi everyone,

I am here once again asking for help, my wife and I are planning to visit UK to see friends and families. I was just wondering what is the process to apply visa for my wife (she is a green card holder) and I am a citizen. I was told that I can apply for visa at the airport but I was wondering how much is the fee and process for my wife to get the visa?

I googled it and ended up with this website called ukba.homeoffice.gov (for some reason I can't copy and paste the link here). It says the general visitor fee is 80 pounds( lol idk how to type it). Has anyone been through this before and got some info and won't mind sharing it. I would really appreciate your help.

Don't know about you but this should help your wife. She has to pay 80 pounds (that includes biometrics fees) http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/visiting/general/documents/

Actually, IIRC, an applicant will need to pay the fees based on the conversion rate.

 Thanks Riddle bro,

I was tracking that 80 pounds, is it same for me and my wife. Does that mean we both have to pay 80 pounds each? I didn't know she had to take biometrics too. Is there a number I can call and ask? I know that website is off of UK..but do we have any center here in stateside to call and get general information. I am hoping to hear from someone here who has been in this situation before.

As a US Citizen, I don't think you will need a Visa.
As for your wife you need to complete an online application from the website you mentioned.

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/countries/usa/applying/?langname=UK%20English

On the upper right side, you can start the application. You can always save it, come back later and finish it and submit it.
Print a copy at the end of submission OR you can always log back in and print it later at your convenience too. At the end of submission you will be given an option to schedule your Biometrics appointment with Application Support Center just like I-485 with option for all available dates/time. Print the Biometric appointment form upon submission.
Once you schedule and complete your biometrics, mail the completed online application form, your STAMPED biometic appointment notice, specified size photo, together with all supporting documents to UK Border Agency in New York. When submitting your online application you'd have paid $12 fee for them to return your package. I think the cost of application is $132; I think that $12 mail return fee is also included in that.

As for the supporting docs- a colored copy of notorized GC, employment letter, few paystubs- if working, OR just proof how u r going to support ur travel to UK and won't be a burdan to their welfare system. The website says to submit your Itinerary too; all I did was submitted a tentative itineray from Kayak and wrote a cover letter saying buying the ticket would be the first thing I'd do upon receipt of Visa
If you have relatives/frens you can always give their address/info as the place you would be staying, that helps otherwise they might look for hotel booking info.
Good Luck

I'm pretty sure US Citizens' visa-free trip to the UK and EU nations is valid for 3 months.

Thank you Panacea and riddle, I did the same thing like you said...its gonna cost about 132 for her biometrics and application. We already booked the flight and we are going to visit her family so we should be good on the hotel thing...And yes for US citizens you dont need visa.

Bear in mind, they're gonna ask you to show proof of hotel reservations with your application. The entire application process shouldn't take more than 2 weeks. London's pretty amazing. Enjoy!
