Ten years ago, there were barely any ethnicity based Nepali organizations in the US. Most programs were a lot of fun because they represented one Nepal. Most Nepalis came to party as Nepalis.

Fast forward ten years and thesedays you see ethnic Nepali organizations mushrooming all over the place. Organizations are either ethnicity based or political party based. Only people who belong to the group started to go to such parties so many Nepalis with open and educated mindsets are beginning to feel they don't belong to any group and just stopped going to any parties since invariably they are there to feed their own agenda.

Ten years ago when I first came to the US, it was a lot of fun to meet Nepalese people in these non-affiliated parties where everyone were just Nepalis. Thesedays that Nepali spirit has been killed.
