You should know the exact amount owed to MD, then you will pay penalty as well interest on it.
My suggestion is find out the right amount you owed ( if you have not filed tax , you should do it now and figured it out and tell them you are paying it, you can arrange for installment payments).
If you have worked two or more state , then you must file both state and find the right amount you owed to MD.
