India halts pension to ex-Indian Gurkhas -  PRAKASH ADHIKARI, DAILEKH  Oct 27, 2015- India has halted the payment of pension to former Gurkha soldiers in Dailekh citing insecurity amid ongoing Tarai-Madhes agitation. Indian Embassy distributes the former servicemen’s pension from Birendranagar-based camp on semi-annual basis. However this year’s payment has not been settled yet. “We depend on the pension amount to celebrate festivals and clear our yearly bills. We hoped but did not receive our fund this year,” said Karna Bahadur Chand, a former Indian Army soldier, “There are no signs of receiving it and we will face difficulties to run our livelihood soon.” A total amount of Rs 600 million is paid to around four thousand pensioners from Surkhet. http://kathmandupost.ekantipur.com/news/2015-10-27/india-halts-pension-to-ex-indian-gurkhas.html View/Share this post only
