King Mahendra Shah sacked the newly elected government of Nepal in 2017 BS. It was the first elected government after the 2007 revolution. Girija Koirala went to the polls in the middle of his term. It was also the first elected government after 2046 revolution. And, king Gyanendra Shah dissolved the parliament in 2069 BS.
KP Oli government is also the first newly elected government after the promulgation of the new constitution. And, ironically and sadly, the politics in Nepal is in a similar juncture as in the past instances. There is a saying "past will repeat itself until we learn from it". Have Nepali leaders and intellectuals learned their lessons? Specially have KP Oli and Prachanda learned their lessons?
I think Prachanda has to play a bigger role in providing political stability to the country. He owes it to the people who fought for him and everyone who went through hard times during the maoist revolution. Can he? Personally, I think that he has shown a lot of patience in grinding every day politics after he was forced to resign in 2008.
