A lots of Nepali own a restaurant and give a name like totally and serve some of the nepali food like Momo, bodi aloo tama, etc..of course yummy and proud for that. But why why they try and inspired by the indian cuisine. Why they like to do that. Its very proud for Nepali communities and introduce our food all around the world and slowly people knows where Nepal located at? that's sucks. But I tried to do something good and try to introduce all our local food to american communities. If you wanna know about us please visit us at WWW.EVERESTEXPRESSUSA.COM, and we proud to serve nepali cuisine only from last 5 years in Michigan, USA. We don't have big dreams, just want to introduce nepali in USA.we have so small restaurant, but we are happy for that. But we are just wondering that why Nepali serve Indian cuisine? just to make money? Why they don't care about our country to introduce to entire world, atleast guys just put a small nepali flag in your car. so people wondering what the hell is that suppose to mean of the flag.. its ok. Its all up to you guys. A small request for those who intrested in this kinda Kurakani, whenever whereever you see any nepali or you came to know that Nepali, just try to introduce yourself. Don't act wared..because a lot, a lot of Nepali have that kind of atitude when they went to aboard. They totally forget where that person from, and what we are. man! too much show off.

Nothing to write too much just be like a normal nepali, atleast support our country and whenever you got a chance to help any nepali abraod, do it. You will be proud yourself..

thanks..whenever you will be in Michigan visit us at EVEREST EXPRESS NEPALI CUISINE.
FARMINGTON, MICHIHAN..48336.

As far as restaurant goes, don't know why they serve indian food at other nepali restaurants ..that's none of my business and shouldn't be yours too....but glad that you are servin' nepali food at yours. Will definitely try when ever we visit MI.

Nepalese restaurants are hardly sell real Nepalese cuisine. Why? Nepal has no national cuisine like the real Australian cuisine. The best of Nepalese cuisine that el cheapo back packers come to know is "daal bhat and tiun and sukaeko yak masu or masu of limted masus". Thus, in real commercial terms Nepalese enterpreneurs have very limited choice to offer apart from copying from Indian regional or Tibetean or Chinese (various cuisines). I mean Nepalese regional cuisine like Newari and Thakali are symbolic but could not be presented to the world in its crude form (specially butchery related items would be deemed unsafe for human consumption due to lack of hygeine). I am sorry to tell the truth and I do not apolosise for it being a straight shooter.

For example, look at my cousin Gautam Rana from Babar Mahal Revisited. He is half Nepe and half Indian. He for his Baithak Restaurant calls his cuisine half Mughal learnt from Muslim Khansamas and half improvised by Bajais. It seems his Chandra Shamsher khandan related foodstuff were so improvised like "bhumi sparsa maha raag" with a bir alanka maha bhaab. Everything is bafayeko bandel, janeko daal with upachunk, chaneko khir or blah blah blah....I remember a long time ago there used to be the so called best restaurant in Kathmandu called SUN KOSHI belonging to Hema Singh. It was designed by my friend Tome Cres. However, the food was eatable, slow and nothing to illustrate about Nepalese national cuisine. I must say my favourite was Marpha ko Raakshi (rice wine) and drunk in Bhakta Pur hand made earthern mud Pyala. This symbolic presentation really made me proud to be Nepali.

Here in Australia, just because they are selling Crocodile, Emu, Goana, Ostrich, Buffalo, Bush Tucker and much more and improvising with Asian tropical herbs and spices and from Medi countries like Italy and Greece...has it really become Australian Nationa cuisine.

Hell No.l

Continued....

For the development of Nepalese cuisine we need entrepreneurial chefs and we need to patronise them as our living national treasures like the French, Spaniards and Italians really do. I believe such legendary Nepalese chefs do not exist and in practice a lot of Nepalese work for el cheapo Indian restaurants as Indian cooks (Bhanse kahchas) all over the world in pay dirt conditions.

Look at Nepalese restaurants in Adelaide, Melbourne and so forth. They have Tandoori oven from India and in Adelaide it is called Maha Sagarmatha Chulo. They use every thing cooked in it poleko...deemed so un appetising as if a murda was poleko.

Solutions:

1. Nepal must learn how to do proper butchery and present small goods with hygeine.
2. Nepal must learn to develop its own cuisine.
3. Nepal must treat innovative chefs as national treasure and much more as starters....

What do you suggest?

nepali restaurant matra bhanera market ma survive garna garo hunchha ni hoina ra.........at least these people say "nepali and Indian"....
coz indian restaurants are popular and don't have to worry about making a plACE in market here... they are reputable desi food....
so nepali haru taking advantage or holding on to that just so they don't go gaareeb by trying to call it" only nepali restaurant"

I agree with Unknown KT. If you open up a Nepali restaurant, you're not doing social service there nor becoming an ambasedor of Nepal, yet ,want to promote your culture and expose Nepal in your local community. You are all concernd about your time and money. We do not have big enough Neplai community in US and on the top of that, people like Ruck&maul would never go there. So you'd want to attract Khaires there who would still order Alu gobi over Kaulu Alu, why? They know what they are getting?
It took indians over 50 years to familiarize their food, how long of a history do we have in U.S. with Nepali food?

Just a thought...comments are welcome
