I need to tke my laptop to Nepal but I need to return it with me on my way back. The custom office want to tax me on the computer when going to Nepal. What is the procedure so that I don't need to pay the tax.

I ran into trouble the first time i took my laptop to nepal. an idiot custom officer and his henchmen wanted like 20K to clear me thru customs. i eventually bargained it down to 2K (deposit). i hate corruption, so I made sure to get back the 2K deposit when i returned. the second time, i just put my laptop in my airbag and just walked thru customs. the idiots did not notice anything, so it was hassle-free the second time around.

i would suggest that you do not carry a laptop bag, as the sight of your laptop bag will make the idiot custom officers salivate like pavlov's dog. so hide the laptop in your carry on luggage instead. if you are taking the laptop for some work, get a letter from your employer indicating that the laptop is not yours, or something like that. this is just in case they notice your laptop.
