Reading the countless opinions in the coountess posts above, I figure most of y'all are from civilized countries far away like amrika, ingland and astilia, although some of the lingo used suggests otherwise.

Anyway, I think actually living in nepal for the last 5 yrs counts a little more than reading nepalnews in a faroff land and preaching democracy, monarchy, anarchy or whatever.

I'm old enough to realize that there's no black and white to this and the world for the most part is grey. However, I'm trying to break it down based on what I have seen, heard and experienced in Nepal for the last 5 years.

Nepal bandhs--BAD. Nepal bandhs becoz maos say so, becoz uml or whoever says so, nepal bandh becoz the army treated girija with disrespect, I mean come on!
What if you have an emergency, what if you wanna work, or you just wanna go out--well u can't!

Almost daily street protests, destruction of public and private property n violence-- BAD.
Self explanatory.

Non-stop bickering among blatant corruption among the so called netas--BAD. I don't know about you, but the people actually living in Nepal have had more than enough of these greying, incompetent, egocentric and highly corrupt netas. Don't take my word for it. Go ahead buy a ticket to Nepal and take a survey or watever u feel like taking.

People killing people--BAD. Be it the military killing maoists or vice versa or the innocents killed in the "crossfire", this ongoing bloodbath will get us nowhere. If it takes the king to initiate and implement a ceasefire and negotiations, more power to him!

Peace, law and order-- GOOD and URGENTLY NEEDED. If the king can bring back peace, law and order back in the country, most if not all people living in Nepal will more than happily embrace him. If that means losing my rights to do nepal bandhs, starting juluses daily and breaking windows and burning cars along the way, I don't mind.

Sure, "democracy" sounds good on paper. But judging from what we've had in Nepal for the last 10 yrs or so, I say No thank you! If I have to sacrifice some freedom (what freedom?) to have peace and security, I'm more than happy to do it.

I'm not saying things are all going to be good and rosy from now on. But based on my experience in the last 5 yrs, I'm more than wiling to try something differrent, anything!

You can't always have what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find--U GET WHAT YOU NEED!
