Kaile reminded me of Dr. Paul Joseph Goebbels, Hitler's Propaganda Minister. Show us the other side of the story too, will ya? What do you expect the cops would do in order to maintain law and order in the country? Welcome the demonstrators with garland and sweets? That's their job to follow orders and they are following orders. Job well done.

Don't act like this is the first time you have seen such a picture in your life. Don't pretend Girija P, MKN, Greatest fkedup saint KPB, Panche etc haven't used the force while they were in the power.

Fk U for your try to mislead us. Go find someone else and STOP TRYIN' TO MAKE SAJHA A PROPAGANDA SITE.

Police in Nepal have always been brutal. Be it in the Panchayat ere, so called democratic era, or right now. The main problem is education and training.

The demonstrators must understand that they do not have any rights to destroy any public properties. If they do they will have to dealt with the force. Forced closure is common in Nepal. This is agaisnt the norms of democracy.

Peace.

These kinds of pictures are misleading. These are the pictures taken by journalists who wait for hours before they capture a "sensational" picture, which portrays the ruthlessness and the brutality of policemen over ordinary citizens, while ignoring the general picture of the protests or the rally. And some of us here interpret what we see in those pictures, which are very specific part of the protest, as the general mood of the security forces on ground. This is completely misleading.

Besides, these are the same policemen who were there even when Girija, or Makune, or Shere or any other elected government was in power. These security men have acted in almost the same way for every government within their limitations. So, it's not the type of regime which dictates the behavior of these people, but there are other factors which shapes their behavior towards the protestors and the ordinary citizens. I am not saying, however, we have the best trained and the educated policeman in the region. We need reforms.

The protestors had the options of not coming to protests and not destroying public properties. They could have stayed in their homes. But, on the other hand, it was the responsibility of a policeman to act when the mob went unruly, just like it is your duty to type a report if your boss demands that of you. They do not have option, unless they leave their jobs.

Think why these things are happening in the country.

The problems in our country:

Everyone think they are above the law.

Everyone break the law.

There is no such law to punish the powerful ones.

Money can buy anything: power, people, positions.

Unless there is a strict law to take care of these things, these types of things will keep happening. Everyone should be under the law: general public, police, army, leaders; and those who break the law should be punished equally regardless of position, power and wealth.

No one in the country seems to be educated (I don't mean formal education). Even the ones who have formal education act as uneducated ones (at least the behaviour shows that). They should all learn from the past and try to correct them, especially the leaders and the demonstrators. Democracy and human rights does mean they can do anything they want, especially with the public property. Those who destroy public property should be strictly punished (I wouldn't even mind if they are shot at site).

The problem is NOT that the media zooms in on events that should not happen... the problem is that the events happen!

Guest4: you sound like some members of the Bush administration who complained that after hurricane Katrina the media only focused in on the New Orleans Superdome and the convention center, ignoring other places where things were more orderly...

The Nepal Police behavior captured on camera is shameful, regardless of whether it happened once or 100 times.

How true, wish he said the same to 9/11. Seriously, this whole ordeal pisses me off. 9/11 has become a political toy for this guy and other Republican senators, using it whenever they think will improve their sagging numbers. In terms of disasters, 9/11 was really rather minor, except in terms of emotional impact on the nation. Which was precisely as the terrorists had intended. NYC and DC hospitals geared up to handle the wounded, of which there were very few, and the number of people dislocated from their homes and livelihoods was extremely small. That didn't stop the Admin from playing it up as the greatest catastrophe since the civil war. It's easy to look good when dealing with a puffed up situation. And it's easy to shift the focus onto other areas of interest (Iraq) when you've deliberately created a reaction larger than the problem.
