Has anyone in the US renewed their passport recently? Is it still $80 as mentioned on the consulate's webpage? Not sure when was the last time they updated their webpage, so thought I'd check with you guys. If I were to send my passport by mail for renewal, which consulate would you recommend, DC or NY? Thanks.

Got my renewed passport back from DC within a record 10 days..Kudos to the people there!! For all those who complain about the DC consulate, I guess the key is to make sure you send them all the necessary documents/$$ (clearly listed on their website) for a timely turnaround (~2 weeks).

answer to the past post... if the old passport still has valid visa (s), yes you would want to. i royal nepali embassy in dc is the place replacement passport can be applied. they ahve been pretty good when i sent mine. their office is located in cool neighbourhood and visiting or walking through taht area can be an experience in itself. i heard thier office bldg caught fire a while ago and wonder if it still stands....check before going though!

The one in NY was pretty good. The guy even called me back when I sent them less number of photographs, talked very nicely, and when I sent the photo, I got the passport in less than 7 days, with dashai ko subhakamana. LOL. http://guild.sajha.com/guild/read.cfm?guildid=16 Echoes bro ko dukhalaagdo kahani... If anyone failed to read. eh... regarding the passport renewal. :D
