Nguyen Tuong Van, is currently on death row in Singapore awaiting execution by hanging.

Van is a 25 year-old of Vietnamese descent, who was born in a Thai refugee camp after his mother fled her homeland. They emigrated to Australia when both Van and his twin brother were just a few months old. His mother settled in Melbourne's south-east suburbs and by all accounts Van was an ordinary kid growing up in an ordinary suburb....

From the above site:

I just don't understand - many people have a greater claim to try Van than the Singapore authorities (tyrants, really).

I just pray for peace at this time for Van, it is terrible what is happening but my consolation is that the same mercy they show the same they will recieve (I SO HOPE THEY DO). Will never visit Singapore - even if I'm offered a free trip.

Here you go,

Look at this people, had it been China or Libia instead of Singapore, Mr. Van for sure wouldn't have to be executed. The extremist, who slit throats of 12 Nepalese men in Iraq and the Maobadi, who did the same to one of the teachers in Khotang deserve this kind of punishment. Apart from that I always oppose the capital punishment.

Looking at this article, it made me think is that really necessary?

Nothing new !!

Having lived in Sinagapore for almost 2 decade, I am not surpriesed by the death sentenced passed. Beside this is a stale news.
