HELP I am in F1 status since last 6 months , currently studying and have been working in pay check for the last 4 months. I also worked for 3 months inside the university legitimately. Now everyone is talking about tax return and submission. Would someone please tell me, if i should file the tax return or not for the unauthorised employment? What are the consequencers, you have heard on unauthorised employment for F1 holders, would someone share that?

You must have to file tax no matter what..!!!since you're working on campus job, that does not bother you at all. besides, they don't know whether you are f-1 or not when you file tax i guess. You also can file the tax by following the instruction or go outside H&R block. once again, you must have to file tax.

You must file tax even though you are not authorized to work outside. INS and IRS are two different government branches and they do not cross-reference on a normal condition unless it is a serious matter. By not filling tax, you can put yourself in big trouble with IRS. Back taxes, failure to file tax on time can cause huge penalties.

hullowww its called unauthorized for a reason! If it was authorized and legitimate you do need to file taxes. They do know if you are on F1 because you get a different form and not the regular 1099. Well depends on what you choose to file...

Just fila regular 1099 or 1099A. Don't file 1099NR if you worked without authorzation.
