Join Biggest Ever Rally against Monarchy in New Delhi on Feb 12, 2006
Dear Friends,
We want to bring to your midst the story of Nepal, a country with over 300 million people. The heroic people of Nepal have risen against the autocratic, medieval, feudal and militaristic monarchical rule in Nepal. The people have decided to put an end to the fetters that has enslaved them for years invoking the so-called divine right.
Monarchy: the barbaric face of decadence
In response to the mounting protests against the anti-people monarchy the King dismissed the Parliament in October, 2002. You might be aware that the present king Gyanendra had managed to assume power through a palace coup wherein the former king and many of his family members were murdered in cold blood. In February, 2004 against mounting public opinion of the monarchy the King declared emergency rule, imprisoned all elected leaders from various political parties and gagged the media. Today Nepal has been transformed into a prison house of thousands and thousands of political activists/leaders, intellectuals, journalists, human rights activists. The media has been completely banned and no one should dare speak against the monarchy. Thousands of political activists have been jailed in recent days for defying so called prohibitory orders of the tyrant regime that was imposed to stop the street demonstration for boycott of the so called municipalities election. The Nepalese people are for the election of constituent assembly that will shape the course of entire country, not for the municipal bodies.
People’s struggle against the monarchy
The people of Nepal rose in revolt in 1996 for independence from the clutches of the tyrannical monarchy. To defend their struggle against the fascist onslaught of the mercenary forces of the king the raging revolt had its __expression in the armed resistance since 1996. So far the mercenary forces of the king have killed 12000 people to suppress the defiant spirit of love for freedom of the toiling masses of Nepal. This has only made the exploited people of Nepal more steadfast in their determination to put an end to the rule of monarchy, to restore dignity and security to their life. The demand for a secular democratic republican Nepal have become the call of every freedom loving citizen of this country be it of any political persuasion.
The monarchy in Nepal has been desperately trying to brow beat the heroic revolt of the people into submission and disinform the international community about the state of affairs in Nepal. The spectre of people’s revolt for a secular democratic Nepal have gripped the length and breadth of the country. The CPN (Maoist) which has been leading the armed resistance against the autocratic monarchy of Nepal have thus declared unilateral ceasefire to establish the democratic republic and abolish monarchy. They have given the call to end the civil war through the election of the new constituent assembly. To achieve this prospect, a twelve point charter of understanding has been arrived at between the CPN (Maoist) and other political parties in Nepal. This shows the popular support for the demand for a democratic, republican Nepal.

The Nexus between the monarch and US imperialism
Scared of the people’s assertion the monarch Gyanendra wants to turn Nepal into another Iraq or Afghanistan through his military might. For this, he has found an able ally in the biggest terrorist of the world today—the US imperialism. Yes, US imperialism responsible for Hiroshima and Nagasaki, that had massacred, maimed and impoverished the defiant people of Vietnam, that had bombed Afghanistan and Iraq to the stone age in the name of democracy and created several Abu Gharibs. It is the same US imperialism that propped up the zionist Israeli state to massacre the Palestinians who were fighting for their homeland. Today US imperialism is ready to support the feudal, autocratic, anti-people Gyanendra under the garb of fighting for order and normalcy in the world not to say the ‘American way of life’. Thus the struggle for a secular democratic Nepal is now not only confined to Gyanendra but also against the blood sucking US imperialism which is the main enemy of all forms of freedoms.
Reference to thisOn Feb. 12 Sunday on the eve of tenth anniversary of great people's revolution in Nepal, a biggest ever rally against monarchy is going to be held at Ramlila Ground, New Delhi. We earnestly request and hope that your party/organisation will participate in large numbers in the rally to express international solidarity with the struggling revolutionary people of Nepal.
