biswa, are you an IITian? i've few questions- how good is the ms program in iit? if you were given chance for a good US uni or IIT, what would you choose?

I am tronixian. Bite go for IIT unless its one of top 5 US University. Trust me IIT is worth it but are you sure you have the choice of IIT? Man you must be really lucky to be offered MS in IIT. Dont worry bout US, any ways you will head to US after IIT. Dont worry bout dollars. If you go to IIT for MS I believe the current rate is atleast $100K/anum as you walk out (in good shape of course). Good luck Man.

i am not sure u know much about IIT. Nepalese can give GATE exam and join ME program of IIT. I am not sure but i think they give stipend fro ME students, and not hav to pay for tuition fee (if joined through GATE exam).

Ani about US or IIT for MS..that depend on ur long term plan i guess. If u want to work in US , join US univ..but not jpt (say top 100 wud be better).

If u had asked abt BE then i would hav said study in IIT unless u got admission in top 10 univ in US though. Hope this helps.

I think IIT is one of the best places to do undergraduate study in engineering in the whole world. I am not sure about graduate program. If you are looking for masters program, then I would say if you can get into good school in USA, come to USA rather than IIT. I do not know much IITians with undergrad degree from IIT, probably they go for lot better school than where I am now, but i have seen IITinas with masters degree from IIT, and I feel like they are just average. One of my friends came across few IITians in his schools and he said he was surprised to see IITians as he found them as like us compared to what we used to think back in nepal. IIT is sure a big name in undergrad study.

well the best part i like about iit is grinding your arse to get into it- if qual exam is that tough, the curriculum is definitely strong. no i havent gotten into iit yet nevermind- preparing for it.
