Untill few months back, there used to be a stalemate between the King and the Maoists.

The Maoists have taken over many places in Nepal, but their revolution is not successful until they take over the capital.

They could not possibly take over the capital because of the Army. The Army is under the kings control and it is impossible for the Maoists to fight the Kings Army in the capital.

SCENE IN THE CAPITAL:

The democratic parties have a lot of supporters and say in the capital BUT they are not strong enough to overthrow the King.

THE MAOIST STRATEGY:

Using the Democratic Parties as a pawn in their greater scheme of things, the Maoist incite the Democratic Parties to call strikes and large processions, whereby they infiltrate the crowds and force the Kings govt. to attack the public.

THE GENERAL CONSENSUS:

The general public believes that the King is corrupt and not a good ruler. So they only need some inciting before they go out in the streets. Once the general consensus is now to get rid of the King who has unjustly killed off peaceful demonstrators and innocent people.

THE AFTERMATH:

The wrath of the crowd in Kathmandu Valley is enough to overthrow the king. The king gets thrown out/killed. The Democratic Parties celebrate for a short time before they start feeling the pressure of the Maoists from all sides of the capital.

Without the Army being controlled by one point of reference, no one can stop the Maoists from taking control of the capital.

THE STRATEGY IS WORKING:

What we need to decide right now is do we want the Maoist to rule us or the King? The democratic party are just wishful thinkers who wish for a utopia but will fail miserably as soon as their fight is over.

WE THE COMMONERS:

We need to see beyond the current situation in Nepal and decide for ourselves if Maoists Rule is what we want. If that is the case, we need to go ahead and support the Democratic Party in the street to topple the King. As soon as the King is toppled, these Democratic Parties will be swatted off like flies by the Maoist guns.

Although democracy is something to die for, the consequent Maoist rule would be such an unfortunate irony for the deaths of thousands who are seeking democracy.

-this fight is not over until the army is under civilian control. and there should be no overt handshake with maobaadi unless that happens. and by all means, we'll "bring them to the mainstream" after that.

let's keep the king out. it's too much to have to fight both him and the maobaadi at the same time.

>> By all means, we'll "bring them to the mainstream"...??

How What More?? Agree or not...Maoists are the pain in the ass for everyone...SPA, and the king alike...not forgetting Nepali Janatas......

Maoists got their momentum when we had Democracy....During the reign of Girija.....got more momentum up until Deuba's Govt.......If Congress, UML can't agree within their parties, and had to split their parties...how can a general public like myself believe in what they say?? All it is is a game for the KURSI...........until something different happens...Nepal will still be the 2nd most poorest country in the WORLD, and vying for the #1 spot......should not be that far behind.....

.
how can the maoists afford to ignore the clear wish of the huge majority of nepali people for a democratic republic, as opposed to a maoist republic?
what 10 years of a bloody civil war could not accomplish has been brought about by a mere two week's show of true people power
once G is ousted, the maoists cannot claim to be waging a 'people's war' with any credibility. they have not choice but to come back to the mainstream fold

.
altho i do agree with the analysis that the primary maoist motive was to use SAP as a puppet tool to achieve their own objectives..
its just that the subsequent events, the mass uprisings and the clear call for republicanism has taken even the maoists (by their own admission) by surprise

Nari's overall situation analysis is incomplete and misleading like of the Gan Bahadur's proclamation on Friday. Being smart he is trying to scare shit out of the people with speculations. His and other participants are trying to undermine the Democratical process which can itself if established and build with profound institutions can protect itself. Once Democatic institutions are build in the country it will have a global ties with successful Democratic institutions around the world.

Basically you do not need a crasmatic leaders to rule the Democracy. The process of the Democracy breeds cable individual to manage the house. Therefore it is responsibility of all of us to contribute to it and the political parties' leaders have learned last 12 years the need of that process. The mistakes they made were the lack of attentions to build Democratic institutions through the legislations.

If we can get rid of the king through this historic people's movement as the final Republican Revolution then the RNA will be changing its name and responsibility to support the Democratic process. Maoists will not have such capacity and morale to fight against the will of the people of Nepal who achieved the Republic Democracy thought the Revolution.

Because of the king we have Maoists. If the king is gone there will be no Maoist in Nepal.

International communities and India will pour their resources to help us to establish our Democratic institutions through the Parliament of our own.

The mistakes in 12 years the party made are those and one of the example is this - they did not try to dismantle the oligarchic and autocratic institutions such as CDO and let the elected distric chairperson govern the district with the district assembly.

We have to understand the historical fact that Shah kings were not Democratic by thier blood but the Dictators. Accidently king Tribhuban and Birendra were turn Democratic.

Nari, why such a long analysis eventually to support the king?

Why do you forget that maoists are ready to keep their army under the supervision of UN? When Prachanda has agreed to accept any outcome of the election of constituent assembly, what can make you trust that he really meant it?

SPA are not the bunch of stupids that they become the scapegoat of the maoists. Once the interim government will be formed, no election of constituent assembly should be held until Nepal army and the maoist army are under UN control.

Maoists started their war by killing democratic party activists of the grassroot level and these are also the parties who termed the maoists as terrorists but who pushed the parties towards the maoist end? Isn't it the king?

Who is digging a pit to bury himself? Isn't it the king? Instead of taking the parties into confidence and working together, didn't king thrash the parties and surrounded himself with bunch of domestic slaves? Now, why blame parties?

Don't produce the maoists as scarecrow to protect your king. Maoits also must have realized the power of the people. What their war of 12 years has failed to do is being accomplised in two weeks by peaceful movement.

Le Chef, and Sweetheroes:

Please answer this to me.....

What will you do if tomorrow, Maoists come to your house and kidnap your family members/relatives....and hand them rifles to fight...and kill innocent people.......The current demand put forth by the current aandolon in favor of republic Nepal was a result of the anger against the King....Once the king gives up absolute power....People should focus their attention in uprooting the Devilous acts of the Maoists.......Not by killing them, but by challenging them in the mainstream Politics.......and see how they react??? By the way, Have they ever done what they say????
