how can one start working for a company when he/she is in F1 status? H1B for this year can only be used starting from october 1st, so in this situation, if company wants him/her to start work immediately, what would be the option. my understanding is it takes long time to get OPT approved and i dont know how CPT works. so, what would be the solution in this case to start working immediately. your input will be appreciated.
thanks.

CPT is the best choice

just get an offer letter from your employer and meet youy international students advisor

ask him to issue you a new I-20 with CPT details on the 3rd page

You can start to work immediately.

I did that.....it works...no jhanjaat no DHS....no INS

GOOD LUCK

If you are graduating or have already graduated, then you can't use CPT. CPT is for those students who are still in college and who want to work or do internships on areas *closely* related to their courses.

But if you have already applied for OPT and have the receipt, then you can still work in the company but you will have show the proof that you have applied for OPT to the HR people at your company--by submitting your receipt. But again, it depends from company to company; some might agree to it, some might not.

Also, a student can have a total CPT of One Year. If one goes beyond this, the States does not issue an OPT after graduation. So better be careful about such issues.
