If Maoist Rebels are going to be national army after few months, state has responsibilty to provide the logistic support for them now on.

Mahat asks Maoists to stop terrorizing people

KATHMANDU, May 16 - Finance Minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat on Tuesday warned that the government may "choose its own course to go ahead", if Maoists continue their present activities - of intimidation and extortion - which are creating a sense of terror and fear among people.
However, he refused to divulge what the course could be. Speaking at Reporters' Club Nepal, he also strongly urged Maoists to honor their commitments made in the 12-point understanding with parties. Both the government and Maoists have announced ceasefire.

The rebels have also pledged not to force anyone to pay donations to them. However, reports of extortion keep pouring in from different parts of the country.

Mahat also said if Maoists need money to feed their cadres, they should talk to the government, not extort money from people.

"The way in which Maoists are extorting money from industrialists and businessmen will not help restore peace," he said.

Meanwhile, Maoist chairman Prachanda has instructed all his party workers to stop extortion, a Nepali daily reported Tuesday. The daily quoted Prachanda as saying that his party would collect only voluntary donation from people.

1. Why is government responsible to Maoist Militia, not to those poor people who were affected by this insurgency, not to those cadres from other political parties?

2. What happened to all those money looted during these 12 years period? Will that be refunded to the government??

3. What amount will Maoist reimburse to those families whose sons, daughters have been killed during the insurgency.

Yes, it's people who will decide about everything. Ask them lay down their gun and come to the election.

Maoist have never done any constructive activities in Nepal, all they have done is destructive. I don't know how can you say these Maoists are gonna make the Prosperous Nepal. I wish I could believe that.

The dickhead Paras and obdurate Gyane ARE. If they behaved and acted smartly and tried to show compassion and understood that all they need is respect and not absolute power, they (Paras chai hatyara ho, so read it as he) would have been fine - moer or less. The "institution" would have remained okay. These dumb fcuks, being a dumb fcuks acted like a dumb fcuks and could not feel the pulse of the situation. Also, utter incompetence of the political parties and their corruption campaign is another half why we are where we are with respect to transformation.

Without the gun on our forehead, Maoists will win less that what they won in the election. how many seats did they win in the election last time? 5?

i agree that constituent assembly has rapidly become national agenda in nepal. however, please don't tell me that people have opted for constituent assembly for what it is. i would go as far as saying that over 95% of nepalese people have no idea what the hell it is. even some top leaders who we'd expect them to know about it have publicly admitted poor knowledge about it.

the only reason nepalese people've decided to support constituent asssmbly is because they're longing for peace and CA seems to be the only way out from current situation by making maoists abandon their arms and join mainstream politics.

They've no idea what constituent assembly is but they think it's the only way to stop maoists' murderous campaign of terror.

Maobadis extort from common citizens, businesses and everyone and anyone. Now the extortion is at its height - the government itself.

Makune is proposing gas/bas for the maobadis. Why does the country have to bear the burden of the gurillas? Disarm them first then provide them jobs, train them to be common citizens, show them how to live like a common citizens from ruthless killers. That would be a real reform not providing them living expenses, thats robbery.

Why do we support these thugs/thieves Maoist with our tax payers’ money? Maoist have made millions of rupees from extortion and contributed billions of rupees worth of destruction. Who suffered the most? Poor Nepali villagers. And now Maoists need support?

I just see gundaraja Mr Prachanda similar to another gunda Milan Chakre. Both want to loot the people for their gundas. They should be hanged. I remember Nepal of 13 years back, very peaceful and secure.
