In what is seen as a surprise to the nation, Prachanda has warned that maoists might revert their way back to the jungle if the present government does not give them enough attention. Prachanda complained that SPA has sidelined the maoists to take the credit of limiting the power of monarchy. It may not be too long before we will see the maoists back in the jungle.
Today Online writes:
There is no political way out unless the country opts for a republican setup. If the parties are not ready to accept republicanism as per the aspirations of people…we are ready to wage the final war," Prachanda said at a meeting in Morang district in eastern Nepal, the Nepali language daily Samacharpatra reported.
Now maoists are changing their tones. A while ago, they were ready to accept the decision made by the people. But, now the only way out seems to be a republican set up. If they are not willing to accept the wish of the people, we are not willing to accept the rules imposed by them either. So, where is the meeting ground?
We already agreed to so many demands from the maoists side. We are not going to compromise on each and every demands they have. They are trying to impose their rules just as much as Gyanendra did in his time. So, how are they different from Gyanendra?
However, despite all this, I still believe maoists will not go back to the jungle. They have opened themselves to the mainstream society. They are trying to win the hearts of the people now. I think it is just the way to increase their bargaining power in the negotiations. Some of the maoists demands are already fulfilled through the house proclamations. We are going to have CA elections as demanded by maoists. So, what more do they want?
