a litttle diversion from politics would be nice i thought.

72-year-old bachelor fails Class 10 again

JAIPUR: Shiv Charan, a 72-year-old Rajasthan man who has pledged not to marry till he passes his Class 10 board exam, will have to wait longer for a wife. He has failed in the examination yet again!

Also known as Sheojiram, the resident of Kohari village of Behror town, over 140 km from here, has been taking the test for the last 37 years.

In the early years of his life, he vowed to marry only after getting through his secondary examinations. But he has consistently failed, including this year.

Despite low marks in most subjects, he blames mathematics for his poor performance. This time he secured 8 out of 100 in the mathematics paper.

"It's the mathematics paper, which always drags me a year behind my expectations," he said.

Having failed in the Rajasthan board, he was asked whether he would like to appear in the Open School boards, but replied: "Pran jaye par vachan na jaye (better to die than go back on your word).

"It is not in my nature to change from one board to another. I would fulfil my commitments and I would continue taking the board examinations till I pass it," he said.

Shiv Charan took his first board exams in 1969 and since then clearing it has been the only goal of his life. "For me, success is not merely clearing the exam - it will also throw open the doors of marriage for me," he said.

He has no regrets about the odd situation he faces every year in the examination halls.

"Sometimes invigilators throw me out of examination halls on the pretext that I am the guardian of a student. Whenever I go to the exam centre, people converge in hordes to see me," he said.

An eternal optimist, he is still hopeful of tying the nuptial knot after clearing his board examinations.

I am not sure what is the big deal about not seeing girija in times of india. He is so regular they might have mistaken him for one of their own. lol.

Lfc,
I think that Rajastani guy got 8 marks in mathematics simply because he rewrote all the questions (actually equations given in question sheet) in answer sheets. India should honor this guy with a 'PhD' for his constant effort to get passed 10th grade.

Shiv,
It is always better to be all these political parties cautious during any visits to any neighboring countries since no one truely knows what the interest that India is keeping so far and it will never be known. next, one can theorize Mukurjee's absence in any way since there can be millions of explanation of his purpose of not attending that day's session. but what i think is that India does not want monarchy to be toppled out from Nepal, which these commies do not like, neither do most Nepalese.

hm,
nah i think its God's way of telling him that he should move on in life. i am not carping him or anything, but sometiems u just have to eralize your weakness and let goo, and as far as i can tell, this guy will remain a bachelor for the rest of his life.
when i got a 2 out of 100 in my drawing exam, i realized i am not becoming an artist, so i gave up that aspiration.

Ifc,
No I dont think you are a conspiracy theorist rather you are the one who wears a hard hat without looking at its size and at times it gets stuck ..re kya..
:-)

TP,
I dont think Indian leaders care much about monarchy, only BJP does. They are happy-go-getters as long as they get what they want they dont care about anyone. As far as the nepali commies goes if they drop their demand "we do not want king" they will not have anything to fight for, they thrive on conflict and chaos. I agree that nepali people are fedup with monarchy and its cronies but are we rushing to replace them with the Prachanda(s), concerns me.

hey SHIV , u are so right my man.
if commies drop the agenda to remove king .then they have nothing to fight for:).how are they going to exploit that .good catch .
People in Nepal are getting too excited now then need to think deeply.Parchanda - commie dictator or king with no powers?Which one would people choose?
