I have a bit of thing against these NRNs or for that matter any country's NRs. In the case of Nepal, when the country is going through turbulent times, losing it's very identity, these people would be spending thousands of dollars to make merry in New York. They will talk about and celebrate Nepali culture in the comforts of Amrika. Back home, their country and culture is dying every moment.

We used to talk about double standards shown by other countries in our fight against terrorism and corruption. These people are showing double standards towards the very own culture and country that gave them this identity. I feel ashamed, extremely ashamed. You are not Nepalis!

And for that matter, I live a lot and study outside Nepal...and no, I don't spend my dollars on phoren land praising my culture. I infact try and people here aware about what a deep mess Nepal is in because of some people who like to call themselves Nepalis. For once, stop interfeing with Nepal...please!

Have you been looking for air tickets to Nepal?
Or may be you should discuss on this matter infront of 1000s during the convention.

Revival, You've been waiting for too long. You're going to be waiting forever unless you stop waiting and start doing work towards the new beginning.

In truth,

ANA has been almost 7 years old organization.

but ANA never did creative works for the country Nepal.

ANA only did gathering, selling beer, win and did party. It just like another business. They sell their bags, T-shirts and other things in the name of convention.

In Nepali proverb says " Sanai Dekhi Lageko Bani..."

These people used to do in Nepal... and they do same thing whatever they go. They never change their personality, behaviour and mentality.

If you do not care and support to Nepal... your mother land.... So what for ANA stand?

Do anybody have answer of it?

ANA is for party goers who have fun partying with other Nepalis. ANA is not for whinners who only know how to whine.

What happens to all the money collected? I wonder about that though. ??

Ask not what your country has given to you. Ask what you have given to your country.

everything----"ANA has been almost 7 years old organization" ---thats not the truth.
ANA has been around for more than 22 years.

By the way if you guys boycott the convention then you think nepal will improve???

My suggestion is that you go back to Nepal and then do something about it.
common people move on.

I understand your frustration but common ....doesn't make sense.

If you have a plan then please let us all know and then we can further discuss.

cool nepali bro, you rock man! couldn't agree with you more. I live in the US, put myself thru hell to finish my education, worked really hard to get to where I am today and now I do all I can to help friends and family back home. Yes, I love Nepal and I keep abreast of things there, and I wish things were better back home, but I will not relinquish this opportunity to get together with all my fellow nepalese brothers and sisters here, when this is the only opportunity I will have for the entire year. I do not care what ANA can do for Nepal - using that tired old JFK saying is such a cliche-- all I care about is the fact that ANA gives me a place to touch base with all I hold dear to my heart, as well as remind me of where I came from.
I hate these freaking losers who spin negatives out of everything...go get a life and have some fun along the way, you morons, and if you do not want to come to ANA, dont--just do not discourage those who want to by making retarded statements that someone is less of a Nepali by going to one.

Peace.

Exactly:

ANA is an American organizaiton and i think it is great that they are organizing so many functions so that many Nepalis all around can come to one place and meet their friends. It is not important that every organization be political or charity.

I am going to be there for all the friends and fun....see you all in New York.

Dude, memyselfandnepa,l...you sound like a fake, sycophantic suck up...You don't need to come into a forum and shed light on Nepal's situation and use that to spread guilt trips to people..We are all well aware of What is going on. What fault is that of our's that we should sit in a corner and brood? The ANA convention, whatever the perception may be of it, is still a place where people meet. What people do with their time and conversations is their own virtues or flaws, but don't balme the organization for wanting to create an annual Nepalese gathering. Nepal's problem is too deep rooted for a surface dwelller like yourself to pretend to understand. Stop your ridiculous laments, twisted idealism and hollow nationalism. The ANA convention is a good thing. Meeting people and interacting is important.
And one more thing people..Stop saying that the ANA convention is in New York. It is in freakin New Jersey. A whole different state. I hate how people keep using New York's name to promote and advertise events in Jersey.

If the dumbass who started this thread merely did it to get a rise out of some of us, then I admit he did it to me...what a jerk..I bet you this is a case of sour grapes...
so unless this guy says so, we are all non-nepalese by doing things he cannot do, such as getting together, having fun and taking a break from our increasingly hectic lives.
what a concept..
wonder what other things we should not be doing to maintain our nepalese identity??

I am glad you are not coming to the convention dude, cause I would have found out who you were and we would have had a nice (or maybe not) little confrontation.
peace.

You are damn right. What's wrong with it, if people wants to get together once a year and have fun.
