I am looking at the comments and looking at the pictures during hte ANA this year. I think the ANA is the worst organization and its not the Nepali culture. None of the people who participate in this convention were wearing Nepali custom and none of them want to show like Nepali.
This is shame to all the Nepali like me. Its so shame to look the pictures of Nepali women with few inches cloths during the ANA convention. Dance, Hangout with girls, Drinks, Pose in different style in picture, Is this all that you learn from NEpali culture?

I dont understand why these people are fussing so much about the ANA thing. Its disgusting to notice how the only subject that seems to stand outs as being the most criticized one is how women.. nepali women.. were not dressed properly.. got drunk.. danced.. bah! what the hell about the guys?? its their life.. their choice!this nose poking.. othrodox attitude sux big time. ever heard of "live and let live" .. i;m sure you guys havent. ask why? you need a life at your disposal in order to do so! and oh ! i heard god sells life for free!! all you pathetic and lame criticizers.. go grab one for yourself before its too late.

street boy

The whole point of organizing ANA convention is to have fun, party, dance, get drunk or get stoned and NOT for showing off Kurta suruwal or dakha topi or saree or whatever.

May be you should organize a different Nepali convention where you can encourage people to wear sharee or dakha topi or kurta suruwal or dhoti or whatever.

u r standing there with ur mom and dad and someone passes by u with their ass and boobs hanging out its gross and embrassing especially when u r there with ur parents and uncles and aunties. guys who wear their pants really low and u can see their butt crack its disgusting and its not ppl like us who grew up here its ppl who grew up over there and i guess cuz some of u dont have parents here so u dont care.

add ur little bro and sis to that 10-13 year old kids wht r they suppose to think? their parents have been theaching all this crap abt value and beliefs parents bring their kids to ANA to teach abt their culture and they go there and see this.
and some of u might be like then why did u all look??? its kind of hard to ignore it when someone is walking around acting like a nut and showing their ass
now some of u might say then dont go to ANA but thats the only way i get to be with all the ppl i know
i totally agree with whoever said there should be a dress code there should be no skirt that shows ass and no shirt that makes ur boobs pop out and for guys underwear or butt shows that a no no

ppl can wear clothes that r sexy and classy they dont need to act or look huchi or hucho

k ko taliban ni there is something called modesty that everyone should have
i dont care if they dress like this on the street or some club or somewhere else in a nepali party where there are all ppl who think and r modern like them but not where my parents and uncles and anunties arent around and my little bros sis and cousins

streetboy,
I have two opinions about your comment on ANA. At first, when I read your first comment, I thought myself being at times thinking about diminishing nepali culture...but after going through your third comment with the picture of a girl, i was kind of sad that you pointed out an individual...anyway, the whole point was that i did not like the way you posted a picture of an individual which was more of a personal comment rather than a "diminishing nepali culture" comment...

i don't have a personal opinion on any of the replies here except one (jhyalincha's):

"go find yourself a gunyu choli wearin, with tori ko tell splattered hair, unshaved armpit/legs and unshowered in a month, callused hands and feet, but as truly Nepalese as they come in your books and live happily ever after"

reading this, I feel a bit offended because this is what my grandmothers were like...and yours too (if I get it right)...what if girls like those are smarter than the girls wearing short skirts, shaving their armpit/legs??? this is not just an assumption, there are girls in the rural parts of nepal who do not have as good opportunities as we do...I do not know why, but I was truly sad after reading your above comment thinking that “if one nepali does not value, rather criticizes gunyu choli, how can we expect others to respect and like nepal?” By this, I do not mean to say that I am against modern dresses or the new changes, but my point is, if we can not keep up wearing those dresses because we are modernizing, at least do not criticize our OWN ORIGIN.

Nepali Kanchhi, Thanks for the comment
I also not saying that nepali girls shouldn't have to wear the short cloths. What does it means to wear the skirts far above the knee and wear the t-shirt (i don't its name no sleves and neck lies on chest), or showing the spaces between two boobs (heheeee). I guess everyone know what inside this. Why they need to show. Even the Nepali convention. Why do they organise the Nepali convention? Is this for partying? Dancing? And Show theirs bodies? Did they talked about the situation of Nepal right now.
I have alot to say. Please think and behave like Nepali. Thats all.

Street boy said, "I guess everyone know what inside this. Why they need to show."

If you already know what's inside, why freak out when few girls show it???
What a moro(n) you are!!!

hey street boy,
i don't think you read both of my opinions about your comment... my first comment says that i also get worried about diminishing nepali culture , which i suppose was not totally against your comment. But, I was against the thing that you actually posted individual's pictures to illustrate this! I was sad that it looked like personal comments and deviated fromt the actual matter you were discussing about. In other words, I was not against your subject matter, I was against the WAY you tried to illustrate it! Sorry for the confusion!

streetboy-- they do alot of things in ANA they have kids camp where kids paint, play with clay etc one time we were gonna teach them ka kha ga gha but didnt turn out so well and also i think they try and teach the kids to play some nepali games like "rato rumal" and they have art excibition, poetry contest etc.
sadly they dont get as much attention as the other things. ana isnt just abt partying, dancing etc (even though there is nothing wrong with that). and by "they" u mean the ppl who organize the convention if they talk abt current situation they do but ppl just dismiss them by saying "oh these r all ppl who wanna be politicions" who couldnt do anything in nepal so they are here bla bla bla
