Mind Boggling Rumours..... One thinks one is busy working and minding one's own business in the US and nobody has the time to bitch about others!!!How true is that???? I think there are some people who will never change whereever they go... as bitching is in their veins and they will not survive the bitter cold of wnter if they don't indulge in gossip. Some wish to degrade people and stoop low to even say things that could affect the character of the concerned victim, thinking this place gives them all the freedom they need to do so. So character assasination is allowed for them. I wonder when they will widen their horizon and learn to respect one another as equal human beings???

Can you be a little specific? Generalizing such a serious allegation is not warranted....Just my opinion !!

Are you giving your own introduction to users of sajha who didn't observe your bitchin in "OM restaurant" thread?

Why don't you give base to a baseless rumour by posting the rumor here so that we can decide whether it has base or not.

What I was trying to say is that we think because we are more busy here abroad that people get less chance to talk than people back home but I thought I was wrong completely because that is not the case. whereever there is a gathering of Nepalese men and women the topic may vary but everyone in busy analying and pinpointing the fault of politics in Nepal and seem to have the solution to all the problems and flaws that our govt. is facing. And others choose to talk of so and so doing this and that and being so wild and unlike nepali and stuffs like that. I just thought that rumours can sprout even more rapidly here because of the advanced technology I guess.
And for pupiffy for your kind information I saw a blog on OM and I shared my own experience while I was there and unfortunately it wasn't a good one. And regarding the owner I thought he was rude because he acted very unprofessionally. And if you don't know the difference between a rumour and opinion I guess I need not say anymore!!!

Dimple,
that's what democracy and freedom of expression is all about haina? i mean okay there is a thin line between b*itching and showing discomfort and/or denial in a subject matter but then how would one know what is right or wrong, when all voices are not heard?

let them retaliate. let them speak their mind out! some points are rational but not all...especialy when things are viewed by people with different perspectives and status (education and place)....there is no point complaining about someone bi**tching...if you think it's absurd, there is one word for it, IGNORE! isn't it sooo simple to do?

just a thought. feel free to disagree....

Idle gossiping is fine with me you know things like Abheshek Bachhan getting married to Aishwarya and stuffs like that and also the great political pundits of Nepal who have left the country hanging on a limbo because they have the answer to all the problems also gives me the tickles, but what annoys me is a particular group of people who are fabricating stories pretty nasty in nature and spreading it so as to make things grim for the victim is vicious intention i think..... this kind of rumor can be disturbing and harmful if it is not nipped at its roots. Democracy has always been misunderstood by us Nepalese in particular because our country went through hell after the declaration of democracy by Late H.M. Birendra. and freedom has also been misused to its fullest extent without any limitations i should say. Sometimes confronting works better than ignoring I think because ignoring is misunderstood for admittance. Sorry Loote for not agreeing with you.

Monday Greetings!

Another Shooo...Shoooo...mind boggling issue! Is this issue restricted only to us or to the whole human species? No matter how many times we preach about not being non-bitchers, we end up doing it one way or the other.

Btw, sometimes it isn't sooo simlpe to IGNORE. I guess it would not be harsh to take you to the past and flash-back some old memories. I guess an individual was whining about being questioned by other individual.

Need some sophisticated brain activator for me! Arghhhhh!

dimple,
i plaudit your arguments and i am in accord to them,well- mostly! please allow me some leverage to clarify my points a further bit. like you, i, for one, do less care about gossips that tend to cook in and offline, which do not hold any significance for the greater goods of a society. mass almost always tend to clash, so differences in opinion and views are commonplace in a democratic society, in any society for that matter!

as for nipping the roots of rumors is concerned, well, it does make sense to some extent. but how would you go about doing that? how many mouths are you planning to put a duct tape in? as a responsible citizen, you do not hold a right to spread baseless rumor and as a wise and educated citizen, you should be able to filter in and judge those sayings.

democracy has never been understood and taken seriously by us nepalese. agree with you on that. but that does not mean you should go about suppressing the voice, coz when you do that, chances are, rational views may get oppressed as well in the process. that is exactly what happened in the panchayati era. we had peace, but at the cost of freedom of speech.

it's the attitude that matters. a democratic society can only be nurtured when people have a good positive attitude and that is possible by education and realization, not by suppression and fear.

flips,
you lop to closely scrutinize me, don;t you? hehe...thanks for the admiration :P. btw, i don't retaliate until things become personal....i admit, i have lost my composure at times here in sajha, sometimes intentionally :P and other times when things had become too personal...

Chow!

i think sometimes bitching is fun. Baseless bitching is ever more fun. Especially if you are frustrated, jealous over other's achievement and really really bored and fed up with your life, have no money to go out and shop. I think bitching is the thing to do. Come on, at least people like me need something to do, else i think i go jobless

Bitching is a part of human world if you did not know it by now. it is a part of life and yes it has been made more fun because of the advancement in technology...

So lets do it and enjoy when you can.........

I agree with Lootekukur here.

Ears are there not just to listen to everything but to also "not listen" to useless stuff. Same goes with eyes and mouth. You must be able to filter stuff. And I do not believe that it is just the Nepalis who engage in such form of "entertainment". I believe everyone does that so just don't generalize it with Nepalis only.

Absolutely back biting and gossiping must be a nuisance in every community but my concern is with the Nepalese only. And to indulge in time consuming and fruitless talk is something that should not be a centrepeice in anybody's life. even if it is fun for some people to laugh at someone else's expense I think that is mean too. As for democracy I think it is too vast even for me to understand it so vaguely I think to value it is a positive thing.

Loote,

"I plaudit" hoina. "I applaud" ho.

Plaudit is a noun. Applaud is a verb.

Don't be offended, hai. Thought I'd mention it because you had used this word elsewhere too. I hope you welcome constructive criticisms.
