By Gopal Sharma KATHMANDU (Reuters) - In a dramatic turnaround in his position on Nepal's monarchy, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala said on Monday that King Gyanendra should abdicate now instead of waiting for the outcome of a vote on his future. Koirala, a veteran politician who heads an interim government in the run-up to elections to a constituent assembly, has been among the few mainstream leaders in favour of retaining the unpopular monarchy in some form, possibly ceremonial. But with demands growing to declare Nepal a republic, Koirala said the king's stepping down would help in a smooth transition to a new and permanent political set up in the embattled Himalayan nation. "The king and crown prince are persons of ill repute," Koirala told reporters in his home town of Biratnagar, 200 km southeast of Kathmandu. "It will be good if the king steps down on his own," Koirala said in comments shown on state television. "This will open up the way." that son of a B(itch was never to be trusted in the first place........Well how many times have the Nepalese people sacked him from power before???? He seems to manipulate the system pretty well in his favour. He had been kicked out for being fraud and incompetent of developing Nepal numorous times wasnt he????? Now If the king makes a move to have a comeback on his own ........Girijas A(SS is on danger because he is one of the responsible politicians to ruin Nepal in the first place. Shouldn't this ASSHOLE be taking cae of LOOTERS, RAPERS, EXTORTIONIST, MOBSTERS. PEOPLE ARE SCARED TO COME OUT IN DAYLIGHT AND THIS MOFTHAFUGGER IS GOING AFTER A PALSIED KING. I AM NO FAN OF GYANEY BUT THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT TIME TO BE DOING THIS. THIS OLD HAG NEED TO GET HIS FUGGING PRIORITIES STRAIGHT. WITH A SENILE MOTHAFUGGER LIKE THIS RUNNING THE COUNTRY NO WONDER WE ARE DOING SO FUGGIN GREAT. STABILIZE THE COUNTRY BRING LAW AND ORDER BACK THEN GO AFTER GYANEY. DOES THIS FUGGER EVEN HAVE COMMON SENSE ? IF YOU WANT TO BRING SOMEONE TO JUSTICE HAVE A PROPER JUDICIAL SYSTEM IN PLACE FIRST. WE DON"T WANT ANOTHER HALF ASSED LEADER DOING A HALF ASSESD JOB.

I think this was inevitable. The republican train left the station when King Gyanendra sacked Sher Bdr Deuba and the Monarchy, through a series of subsequent follies, has only expedited the process. The parties are no saints either but they are made to look like one because of a bad monarch. For some the King maybe a better choice than Girija Koirala, but the Monarchy has lost so much ground so fast that I just dont see how the institution can be saved even if everyone wants to save it (which they don't) Think of it: the only reason Girija Koirala can get away with anything these days, is because his alternative (both Monarchists and Maoists), is, sorry to say, far worse in the eyes of a lot of people. Another thought: the country is suffering badly from the absence of a mainstream opposition. Because everybody is in government or about to join, the role of the opposition has been relegated to fringe elements (e.g the more extremist Terai based parties in the Terai and ethnic and right wing forces in the hills). The need of the hour, in my opinion, is a mainstream opposition force. It wont solve our problems but it just might prevent future ones from flaring up. Just my thoughts.

Source :http: //www.bbc.co.uk/nepali/news/story/2007/03/070312_pm_king_abdication.shtml
