Just a Thought.
Folks! It seems to the right wing world that Nepal is giving birth to Red Revolution. This message from the top of the world is very ecstatic but dangerous to the rest of the world, even to the communist China. But the question is will the international right wing powerful players will let Nepali Politics slip away into the hands of extreme communist or not? After the successful accommodation of Maoist in the government and peace engagement deal, Koirala claims to have succeeded to bring Maoist into democratic circle and norms. But it’s still a long way to go to see the results of it. After the day one, the Maoist entered the parliament and government, the international rightwing powers have started to intervene the political process. That may not look fair but it is natural that super powers always act as a protagonist. Western influences have great impact in Nepal and most of the Nepalese find ease with western democratic ideals rather than hardliner communist. World has witnessed communism failing from big countries, china being democratized slowly, there remains few country which still practice communism. China’s economic growth being facilitated by world open market policy has been boon to the communist China and Chinese business fraternity enjoys more comforts in dealing with democratic countries like US, Britain and other European countries.
Comrade Prachanda must have started realizing that he has done the biggest mistake by joining the Eight Party coalition government, the government which is no different than any other past government. Maoist had a pressure from various sectors which yield them to take this decision which can be easily seen from the ongoing political scene. Maoists are now the important coalition partner of Koirala lead government. Once the most criticized leader Koirala has become the national hero after the induction of Maoist in the government. The democratic stature of Nepali Congress, the only party that enjoys all the blessings of foreign powers has a chance to shape this country and bring it back on track once again. But king of Koiral dynasty is a player in himself. He is now offering a black car with a flag along with monthly salaries, perks, residential buildings and all the modern facilities for Maoist and its cadres. He surely is making them walk the path Congress and its cadres have been walking all these years of rule towards corruption and sophistication. He knows well that after all these one will have very less option to fight against state and go back to jungle again. “Amul Paribartan†and “Ganatrantric Nepal†are highly abused slogans that have anything to do with common people, peace and stability of Nepal. With ADB backing off from “Melamchi Project†and USA still considering Maoist as terrorist out fit and issuing travel warnings against Nepal, Maoist’s dream to take charge of state relinquished to some portfolios only. They head some good ministries but hardly can make any decision without approval from King Koirala. These days we can hear comrade Prachanda exposing his good relationship with late King Birendra in public. This certainly hints their failed intention and attempt to convince King Gayendra for the power deal ditching other political parties. Well, if that could have been materialized at least they could have run the country by their own. Thanks God, it didn’t happen for good.
By now, Comrades must have pictured the big game plan that India, King and Koirala have set for them. How can be Prachanda dreaming to take this country back to extremism while no foreign powers, who have hell of influences over Nepal, wants to see communism rising again from Nepal. So in days ahead , unless people of Nepal decides to revolt again against all foreign powers and intervention I hardly see any future of Maoist and communist in Nepal though they are quite popular. Because it is a country where corrupt, much criticized and dishonest get chance to rule again and again.
Whether it’s a matter of Congress unification or choosing next king of Nepal between Prince Paras or his son or simply the hydro deal or any other “Khali CC Purano Kagaj†deal, India as a culturally, traditionally historically attached neighbor has great role to play in Nepali politics whether we, Nepalese, want or not. It will always try to see Nepal as dependent country on India like Bhutan and Sikkim. Nepal’s dependency on fuel and political mentoring have always made India a key role player though we always advocate to maintain equal and balanced foreign relation with China and India. India has been always dominating the Nepalese politics and leaders from decades. They supported peace talk but kept on harboring Maoist until Maoist branded India as expansionist. India warmly welcomed Loktantric Prime Minister of Nepal Mr. G. P. Koirala and greeted him as the most outstanding leader of south East Asia. That day, India promised cooperation and necessary support for Nepal. But, it seems that India is fueling yet another revolution in Nepal in the name of “Terai Peopleâ€. It is obvious fact that through out revolution, Maoist regulated all their activities from Indian Territory. If that is a way of helping then we must have guts to say NO.
